Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our growing ambulatory surgery center team. This position provides direct patient care in both the pre-operative and post-anesthesia care (PACU) areas for patients undergoing outpatient gastrointestinal procedures, including colonoscopies and upper endoscopies (EGDs).

The ideal candidate is a seasoned RN with strong assessment and critical thinking skills who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Candidates must be proficient in IV insertion, possess excellent communication skills, and be committed to delivering exceptional patient care while ensuring patient safety throughout the surgical experience.

No nights, weekends, holidays, or call required.

Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive pre-operative nursing assessments and prepare patients for endoscopic procedures.
Obtain and document patient histories, medication reconciliation, allergies, and baseline assessments.
Start peripheral IVs efficiently and administer medications as ordered.
Monitor patients throughout the pre-operative and recovery phases, recognizing and responding appropriately to changes in patient condition.
Provide post-anesthesia care according to established protocols and discharge criteria.
Educate patients and their families regarding pre-procedure preparation, post-procedure care, medications, discharge instructions, and follow-up care.
Collaborate closely with physicians, anesthesia providers, endoscopy technicians, and fellow nursing staff to ensure efficient patient flow and high-quality care.
Accurately document all patient care in the electronic medical record.
Maintain compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, HIPAA, and regulatory standards.
Assist with emergency situations and participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
Ensure patient comfort, privacy, and dignity throughout the perioperative experience.
Assist with stocking supplies and maintaining a clean, organized clinical environment.

Qualifications

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Carolina.
Current BLS/ACLS certification required.
Minimum of two years of recent RN experience preferred.
Previous experience in ambulatory surgery, endoscopy, PACU, procedural nursing, ICU, Emergency Department, or critical care is strongly preferred.
Demonstrated proficiency with IV insertion and venipuncture.
Strong assessment, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making skills.
Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
Basic computer proficiency and experience with electronic medical records preferred.
