Position Summary

The Kitchen Manager serves as the operational leader of Westminster Towers' production kitchen and is responsible for the daily management of kitchen operations, food safety, regulatory compliance, staff leadership, purchasing, inventory, and quality assurance.

Working closely with the Director of Dining Services and Registered Dietitian, the Kitchen Manager ensures meals are prepared safely, efficiently, and in accordance with all federal, state, and local regulations while supporting Westminster's commitment to hospitality and resident-centered service. This leadership role combines operational excellence with a passion for serving older adults.

What You'll Do

As Kitchen Manager, you will:

Lead the daily operations of the production kitchen
Supervise, coach, schedule, and develop kitchen staff
Ensure compliance with all DHEC, CMS, OSHA, and food safety regulations
Maintain Certified Dietary Manager standards and regulatory compliance
Oversee food production, sanitation, quality control, and portion consistency
Collaborate with the Registered Dietitian to support therapeutic diets and resident nutritional needs
Monitor inventory, purchasing, receiving, and food cost controls
Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives
Prepare for and participate in regulatory surveys
Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, hospitality, and continuous improvement
Work collaboratively with nursing, wellness, life enrichment, and other departments to enhance the resident dining experience

Qualifications

Required

Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) credential required
Minimum of three years of leadership experience in healthcare, senior living, long-term care, or institutional food service
Thorough knowledge of food safety, sanitation, infection prevention, and regulatory compliance
Experience supervising kitchen employees
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Preferred

ServSafe® Certification (or ability to obtain)
Experience in a skilled nursing or continuing care retirement community
Experience with foodservice software, Microsoft Office, and inventory management systems
Experience preparing for state and federal surveys
