Professional Development Opportunities
The GEAR UP Event & College Coordinator is responsible for coordinating GEAR UP events, workshops, and student engagement activities while also providing college support services to LCCC GEAR UP college freshmen. The coordinator helps students navigate college processes, connect with campus resources, and build skills that support persistence and success. This position adheres to the GEAR UP grant guidelines, works collaboratively, and strives to meet grant goals.
This position is grant-funded; specific parameters associated with the grant may impact the start/stop of any employment relationship as well as compensation. Ensures the successful execution of GEAR UP events by effectively planning, organizing, and coordinating all logistics. Maintain ongoing collaboration with stakeholders, managing event schedule, and agenda timing to deliver seamless and impactful events for participants, speakers, and staff.

Empower college students to make informed decisions by actively listening, providing accurate, up-to-date information, and offering tailored advice that support students’ academic and career goals.

Develop, update, and maintain GEAR UP lesson plans by incorporating stakeholder feedback and ensuring they are tailored to the appropriate grade level, resulting in relevant and effective educational experiences.

Recruit new GEAR UP students and families into the program by providing proactive outreach, being the main point of contact for inquiries, scheduling, coordinating, and in some cases attending recruitment events within the community and partner schools.
Other responsibilities may be assigned based on contemporary institutional needs.

Knowledge of organizing and planning the logistics of multiple types of events from inception to evaluation
