Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Bookkeeper and Payroll Specialist to join our finance team. In this vital role, you will manage comprehensive bookkeeping functions, ensure accurate payroll processing, and maintain precise financial records. Your expertise will support our organization’s financial health, compliance with accounting standards, and smooth operational flow. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven organization that values accuracy, transparency, and efficiency.

Duties

Maintain and update the general ledger using accounting software such as QuickBooks and NetSuite.
Process payroll accurately and on time, including calculating wages, deductions, taxes, and benefits using payroll software.
Reconcile bank statements regularly through bank reconciliation procedures to ensure consistency with financial records.
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable by verifying invoices, issuing payments, and tracking outstanding balances.
Prepare journal entries for various transactions, ensuring proper debits & credits in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis to verify the accuracy of financial data.
Generate detailed financial reports and assist in budgeting processes to support organizational planning.
Ensure compliance with governmental accounting standards and tax regulations through meticulous recordkeeping and reporting.
Support audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations of financial transactions.
Utilize spreadsheets extensively for data analysis, tracking expenses, and preparing reports for management review.

Experience

Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role within non-profit or corporate settings.
Strong proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks (including QuickBooks Online) and NetSuite.
Demonstrated knowledge of double entry bookkeeping principles, journal entries, account reconciliation, and general ledger management.
Experience processing payroll using payroll systems; familiarity with payroll tax regulations is highly desirable.
Familiarity with governmental accounting practices and non-profit accounting standards is a plus.
Ability to handle complex account analysis tasks with precision and attention to detail.
Excellent skills in spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets), including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis tools.
Strong understanding of financial concepts such as debits & credits, account reconciliation, budgeting, and financial report writing.
Prior experience working with multiple accounting systems like QuickBooks Desktop/Online and NetSuite.
Ability to perform 10 key typing efficiently for data entry tasks along with bank reconciliation expertise.
