Full Job Description

Overview

Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Credentialing & Accounts Receivable Specialist in a full-time capacity! Bespoke Psychiatry is seeking an experienced Credentialing & Accounts Receivable Specialist to manage provider credentialing, payer enrollment, contracting support, and accounts receivable activities. The ideal candidate will have experience working with commercial payers, Medicare, Medicaid, HMOs, and Illinois credentialing requirements.

Key ResponsibilitiesCredentialing Specialist Responsibilities

Initiate and complete initial credentialing and re-credentialing processes for both individual and group providers.
Complete provider revalidations with commercial payers, Medicare, Medicaid, HMOs, and other insurance networks.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date provider information in CAQH, NPPES, PECOS, Availity, and other payer portals.
Update the Practice Manager regarding required NPPES updates, license renewals, and other provider information changes.
Maintain current provider documentation, including malpractice insurance, Certificates of Insurance (COI), DEA registration, and other required payer information.
Track credentialing expirations, initiate renewals, and maintain provider rosters to ensure compliance with payer requirements and internal timelines.
Stay informed of payer policies, regulatory changes, and industry standards related to provider enrollment and credentialing.
Resolve enrollment rejections, data mismatches, and payer requests.
Maintain internal credentialing trackers and ensure accurate documentation.
Notify Billing Management of payer EDI, EFT, and ERA enrollment requirements.
Collaborate with the Billing Manager to address payer enrollment issues and request assistance as needed.

Accounts Receivable Responsibilities

Process claims and submit billing to insurance companies for medical services provided.
Prepare, review, and transmit electronic and paper claims using billing software.
Review, research, and appeal unpaid, rejected, and denied claims.
Follow up on unpaid claims within established billing cycle timelines.
Verify patient insurance coverage and assist with insurance-related questions.
Identify and resolve patient billing issues and account discrepancies.
Review insurance payments for accuracy and compliance with contracted reimbursement rates.
Contact insurance companies regarding payment discrepancies when necessary.
Maintain accurate patient account information and update records as needed.
Track billing, collection, and reimbursement activities.
Generate invoices and follow up on outstanding payments.
Collect and allocate payments accurately.
Prepare billing and collection reports according to established deadlines.
Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.

General Responsibilities

Attend weekly/biweekly meetings with the Billing Manager.
Maintain an organized workflow and prioritize tasks effectively.
Communicate professionally with providers, payers, patients, and internal teams.
Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by the Billing Manager or A/R Team Lead.

Qualifications & Requirements

2–3 years of experience in provider credentialing, payer enrollment, contracting, medical billing, or accounts receivable.
Prior experience with credentialing and/or contracting with commercial payers, Medicare, Medicaid, and HMO plans in the state of Illinois.
Strong knowledge of Illinois payer rules, regulations, and credentialing requirements.
Experience managing provider enrollment, re-credentialing, and payer documentation.
Strong understanding of medical terminology, insurance terminology, and healthcare regulations.
Knowledge of medical billing procedures, claims processing, payment follow-up, and collection processes.
Familiarity with medical coding and billing software.
Experience reviewing, following up on, and resolving unpaid or denied claims preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, including Excel/Google Sheets and Word/Google Docs.
Experience working with databases, payer portals, and credentialing systems preferred (CAQH, PECOS, NPPES, Availity).
Excellent communication, organization, and data entry skills.
Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Multi-state credentialing experience preferred.
Applicant must currently reside in Illinois.
