Mechanical HVAC Estimator

Location: Springfield, MA
Job Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire
Salary: $100,000 - $130,000 (Based on Experience)

Partnering with an Established Mechanical Construction Contractor

Merge Associates is partnering with a well-established and highly respected mechanical construction contractor seeking an experienced Mechanical HVAC Estimator to join its growing team in Springfield, Massachusetts.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced estimator with a strong background in commercial mechanical HVAC construction who enjoys preparing competitive bids, collaborating with project teams, and helping secure high-profile commercial projects. The ideal candidate will have experience estimating HVAC and mechanical systems for commercial, institutional, healthcare, industrial, or large-scale construction projects.

Mechanical HVAC estimating experience is required for this position.

Responsibilities

Prepare complete and accurate cost estimates for commercial mechanical construction projects.
Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents to develop detailed estimates.
Perform quantity takeoffs for HVAC, piping, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
Solicit and evaluate pricing from subcontractors, suppliers, and equipment vendors.
Analyze labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs to prepare competitive proposals.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and preconstruction teams throughout the bidding process.
Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving alternatives.
Attend pre-bid meetings and assist with project scope reviews.
Prepare bid packages, proposals, and supporting documentation.
Maintain estimating databases, historical cost information, and vendor relationships.
Assist with project turnover meetings following successful bid awards.
Stay current with industry trends, material pricing, and market conditions.

Qualifications

5+ years of estimating experience within commercial mechanical HVAC construction is strongly preferred.
Hands-on experience estimating HVAC and mechanical systems is required.
Experience estimating plumbing and piping systems is highly desirable.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
Strong knowledge of commercial mechanical construction methods, materials, and building systems.
Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines.
Experience using estimating software along with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, subcontractors, vendors, and clients.
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field is preferred but not required with equivalent industry experience.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
