Help Build the People and Safety Foundation of a Growing Manufacturing Operation
Boater’s World Manufacturing Group is seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist to support our manufacturing facility in Chocowinity, North Carolina.
This is a hands-on, on-site HR role supporting both hourly and salaried employees across the full employee lifecycle. The Human Resources Generalist will serve as the primary HR resource at the facility, partner closely with plant leadership, support employee relations and workforce planning, and help maintain a strong safety and compliance culture.
This position also provides day-to-day guidance and support to the Human Resources & EHS Coordinator and works closely with the HR Director and Operations leadership.
We are looking for someone who is comfortable being visible on the manufacturing floor, working directly with employees and supervisors, and handling both HR and EHS responsibilities in a fast-paced plant environment.
What You’ll Do
Employee Relations & HR Support
- Serve as the primary on-site HR resource for employees and front-line leaders
- Provide guidance on company policies, attendance, performance expectations, coaching, corrective action, and employee concerns
- Conduct workplace reviews and fact gathering under the direction of the HR Director
- Maintain clear, accurate, and confidential documentation
- Escalate significant employee-relations, legal, or compliance matters appropriately
- Support employees and supervisors across multiple shifts as business needs require
Recruiting, Onboarding & Workforce Planning
- Support recruiting, interviewing, selection, pre-employment requirements, onboarding, orientation, and retention
- Partner with supervisors on staffing needs, workforce planning, skills gaps, turnover, attendance, and employee engagement
- Support both hourly and salaried manufacturing hiring
- Assist with workforce ramp-up and changing production staffing needs
HR Administration & Compliance
- Coordinate HRIS transactions, personnel records, status changes, job data, leave documentation, and payroll-related information
- Support benefits communication, open enrollment, leave administration, workers’ compensation, and return-to-work processes
- Maintain compliance with applicable federal and North Carolina employment requirements
- Maintain accurate employee records and required documentation
- Prepare and analyze HR metrics including headcount, vacancies, turnover, attendance, overtime, time-to-fill, and employee-relations trends
Environmental, Health & Safety Support
- Partner with Operations and the HR & EHS Coordinator to support facility safety programs
- Participate in incident investigations and corrective-action follow-up
- Support OSHA recordkeeping and required safety documentation
- Assist with safety training and employee communication
- Support workers’ compensation coordination and return-to-work activity
- Help identify safety concerns and strengthen the facility’s overall safety culture
- Determine when HR or EHS concerns require immediate escalation or corrective action
Training & Employee Engagement
- Coordinate and assist with employee and supervisor training
- Support onboarding, policy, respectful workplace, performance management, safety, and other assigned training
- Participate in employee events, communications, audits, and continuous-improvement activities
- Maintain a visible and approachable presence throughout the manufacturing facility
Team Support
- Provide day-to-day work direction, coaching, and prioritization to the Human Resources & EHS Coordinator
- Partner closely with the HR Director, Operations leadership, supervisors, and corporate HR
- Independently evaluate routine HR and EHS concerns and make appropriate recommendations
- Exercise sound judgment while recognizing when matters require leadership escalation
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field
- Active SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification OR a master’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience supporting a manufacturing workforce
- Hands-on EHS experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with incident investigation, corrective actions, safety training, OSHA recordkeeping, workers’ compensation, and regulatory compliance
- Working knowledge of employee relations, recruiting, performance management, leave and accommodation processes, wage-and-hour requirements, and HR recordkeeping
- Experience supporting hourly employees and front-line supervisors
- Strong investigation, documentation, communication, judgment, and conflict-resolution skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS/payroll systems
- Ability to work full-time on-site in Chocowinity, North Carolina
Preferred Qualifications
- Boat or marine manufacturing experience
- Composites, fiberglass, automotive, powersports, or other durable-goods manufacturing experience
- OSHA 30-Hour General Industry or similar safety credential
- Experience with Paylocity or a comparable HRIS
- Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills
- Experience supporting a manufacturing start-up, expansion, acquisition, or workforce ramp-up

Work Environment
- Full-time, on-site position in Chocowinity, North Carolina
- Work is performed in both office and active manufacturing environments
- Regular presence on the manufacturing floor is required
- Exposure may include noise, dust, odors, temperature changes, moving equipment, and required PPE
- Ability to walk and stand throughout the facility and use stairs
- Ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 25 pounds
- Working hours may occasionally need to shift to support investigations, employee meetings, multiple shifts, or urgent plant needs
