Position Overview
Wise Guys Farms is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and motivated Accounting Manager / Controller to oversee our accounting operations, financial reporting, inventory accounting, and invoicing processes. This position is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys being both hands-on with daily accounting functions and responsible for the overall financial health and accuracy of the business.
The Accounting Manager / Controller will work closely with ownership, sales, inventory, and operations to ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain internal controls, and support strategic business decisions. The ideal candidate is highly proficient in QuickBooks, possesses strong accounting knowledge, and is comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, and general ledger maintenance.
- Manage the creation, processing, and reconciliation of customer invoices and sales orders.
- Serve as the primary accounting contact for the sales team by processing orders and ensuring accurate customer billing.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Perform account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses to support company growth.
- Monitor cash flow, expenses, and profitability while identifying opportunities for cost savings and operational improvements.
- Oversee inventory accounting and reconcile physical inventory with accounting records and QuickBooks.
- Assist with tax preparation, audits, and regulatory reporting by coordinating with external accountants and auditors.
- Establish and maintain internal accounting controls and financial procedures.
- Analyze financial data and provide recommendations to ownership to improve business performance.
- Assist in developing accounting policies, workflows, and reporting systems that improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Support additional accounting, administrative, and financial projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3–5 years of accounting experience; management or controller experience preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of QuickBooks is required.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Experience with inventory accounting and reconciliation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage confidential financial information with professionalism and integrity.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Experience in manufacturing, agriculture, cannabis, or inventory-intensive industries.
- Experience overseeing accounting processes and improving financial systems.
- Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, payroll, and internal controls.
- Experience preparing financial reports for ownership and management.
