JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
Under direct supervision of the Office Supervisor, provides information and customer service to the public regarding Community Center recreational activities; and performs directly related work as required including clerical duties.
Essential Functions

- Answers phones and route calls to appropriate parties; respond to routine inquiries regarding processes/procedures related to department operations.
- Acts as first point of contact for visitors to the department, greet visitors courteously and address routine inquiries, or direct visitors to appropriate personnel.
- Accepts and processes membership applications and payment.
- Assists Program Coordinator with program registration process.
- May assist supervisors with planning, preparation and implementation of special events.
- Performs a variety of customer service functions, including performing initial greetings, answering multi-line phone system and forwarding calls, checking facility users in and out, and issuing passes to various recreational services.
- Provides specific recreational information to the general public, including answering questions about programs offered, explaining rules, regulations, programs and fee schedules to first time users, and providing directions as necessary (in person and over the phone).
- Collects money, completes credit card transactions, issues receipts, enter transaction information into Clinton Park and Recreation Access Program and reconciles money drawer daily.
- Maintains co-operative working relationship with permanent staff, as well as temporary and seasonal staff personnel.
- Responds to questions and comments from the public in a timely and courteous manner.
- Communicates and coordinates with appropriate staff members and supervisor to maximize effectiveness and efficiency of operations and activities; writes legibly and orally communicate effectively.
- Information exchange as it relates to Community Center programs, personnel, and operations.
- Clerical support work as assigned.
- Successfully and positively perform within work team dynamics.
- Performs related duties as required.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no direct supervisory responsibility.
Work Environment
Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
The noise level in the work environment may be loud when in the facility.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
· Require sufficient physical ability and mobility to walk, stand and sit for prolonged periods of time.
· Require to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, twist, grasp, and make repetitive hand movements.
· Require ability to climb ladders, work at heights over 10 feet, work in confined spaces.
· Require the use of hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.
· Require ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull moderate to heavy amounts of weight.
· Require operating assigned equipment and vehicles.
· Require verbal communication to exchange information.
· Require specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus with or without correction.
· Require hearing in normal audio range with or without correction.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Monday thru Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day.
Required Education and Experience
- High school graduation or GED equivalent.
Preferred Education and Experience
1. 1 to 3 years office experience.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office.
- Friendly customer centered service.
- Knowledge of operation of office equipment, such as but not limited to, calculator, computer, telephone, and copier/fax.
- Ability to perform general clerical work, including maintenance of appropriate records and compiling information.
- Ability to correctly interpret and apply the policies and procedures of the function to which assigned.
- Ability to enter data quickly and accurately
- Ability to communicate courteously and cooperatively with staff and the general public, on the telephone or in person, including handling difficult people.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, other staff members, and the general public.

- Valid Missouri driver’s license and good driving record.
- Successful medical examination and drug screen.
- No felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions resulting from felony arrests.
