About the Role:

The Dental Receptionist serves as the vital first point of contact for patients within a dental practice, ensuring a welcoming and professional environment. This role is responsible for managing patient appointments, handling insurance claims, and processing payments accurately to support the smooth operation of the dental office. The Dental Receptionist coordinates communication between patients, dental staff, and insurance providers, facilitating efficient scheduling and billing processes. By maintaining detailed patient records and managing heavy phone usage, this position contributes significantly to patient satisfaction and the overall efficiency of dental services. Ultimately, the Dental Receptionist plays a key role in supporting the dental team to deliver high-quality care through effective administrative and customer service functions.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Proven experience in a dental receptionist or similar administrative role within a healthcare setting.
Familiarity with dental terminology and insurance claim processes.
Proficiency in using dental practice management software and standard office equipment.
Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in dental office administration or related field.
Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
Knowledge of medical billing and coding specific to dental services.
Bilingual abilities to assist a diverse patient population.
Customer service training or experience in a high-volume healthcare environment.

Responsibilities:

Greet and check in patients promptly and courteously, ensuring all necessary information is collected and updated.
Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments using dental practice management software.
Process insurance claims accurately, verify patient insurance coverage, and follow up on claim status as needed.
Post payments and handle billing inquiries, ensuring accurate financial records and patient account management.
Answer a high volume of phone calls professionally, addressing patient questions, appointment requests, and directing calls to appropriate staff.
Operate office equipment such as copy machines and fax machines to manage patient documents and correspondence.
Maintain knowledge of dental terminology to effectively communicate with patients and dental professionals.
Support the dental team by coordinating patient flow and managing administrative tasks to optimize office efficiency.
