Mission Statement

Promise, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization established in 2009 that was designed to provide affordable, independent housing for individuals with cognitive and physical disabilities utilizing public and private partnerships to develop a model community.

Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Promise Resident Community Program Activities Staff member to energize and enrich the lives of our residents. In this vital role, you will help design, coordinate, and implement engaging art activities tailored to the unique needs of individuals. Your enthusiasm and dedication will foster a vibrant community atmosphere, promote social interaction, and support residents’ emotional well-being. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the daily lives of our residents with disabilities.

Duties

Implement Promise Community Resident activities to promote social development
Communicate continually with RCP Manager to ensure integrity of activities and alignment with the overall scope and goals of Promise
Be a peer mentor, modeling behavior, and provide feedback to reinforce a positive development of skills in residents
Always ensure residents’ safety
Maintain records of events, including event details, attendance, success, improvements, and other related information as appropriate
Immediately report emergency situations or potential safety hazards to Administrator as well as information obtained that may affect the health and/or safety of residents, employees, and volunteers. Complete incident report for record and future use
Ability to drive to and from events/activities using Promise vehicles
Arrive at destinations and departures on schedule, research and plan for traffic, construction, and weather delays, and ensure that the vehicle is always fueled and ready for use (CDL not required)
Prepare instructional materials and classes to meet the needs and interests of the residents with clear learning objectives
Provide instruction that encourages participants to understand and appreciate art, express their own personalities through the creative process, while creating a fun and upbeat environment
Monitor and maintain proper use, and storage with all materials, tools, and equipment to ensure good housekeeping modeling for residents
Ability to work with volunteers assisting with classes and outings
Be willing and able to work flexible hours based on programming needs, including nights, weekends and holidays.
Participate and lead events/activities at Promise and within the community
Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Required Skills:

Ability and interest in working with people with all types of abilities
High School Diploma
Some knowledge of various art processes and techniques, pottery, sewing, and how to use a kiln
Good interpersonal skills to be able to act as peer mentor and model positive behavior with residents
Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with coworkers, people with disabilities, family members, and the community
Strong problem-solving ability
Computer and organization skills
Clean driving record and knowledge and ability to operate Transit, 14-Passenger, and Cutaway vans and lifts
Demonstrate dependability and reliability
