Full Job Description

Controller

Property Management & Real Estate Investment | Memphis, TN | Full-Time, Salary-Exempt

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a Controller to lead the accounting function for our multifamily property portfolio and corporate operations. This hands-on leadership role owns financial reporting, oversees the accounting team, and serves as a key partner to ownership and the operations team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee all accounting operations: general ledger, A/P, A/R, job cost, and month-end close across all properties
Review team work product and deliver accurate, timely financial packages at the property and portfolio level
Prepare quarterly investor reporting and distribution statements
Manage cash: bank administration, reconciliations, wires, cash flow projections, and reserve analysis
Ensure timely payment of debt service, real estate and sales taxes, insurance, and owner distributions
Partner with operations on property budgets, forecasts, annual reconciliations, and ad-hoc analysis
Support acquisitions, dispositions, and financings, including due diligence and closing deliverables
Coordinate with third-party tax preparers on K-1s and investor tax reporting
Develop accounting policies and procedures; train and mentor accounting staff

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or real estate; CPA required
4–6+ years of accounting experience, including multifamily or commercial real estate
Strong knowledge of property accounting, real estate finance, and investor reporting
Working knowledge of partnership tax structures, K-1s, and coordination with tax preparers
Advanced Excel skills; property accounting software experience (ResMan a plus)
Proven ability to lead a team and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Pay: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
