Full Job Description

We are a multi-employer administrator seeking a detail-oriented Benefits Payment Processor to join our Accounting group. This position is responsible for administering a variety of participant benefits, including Vacation, Holiday, Income Security/Sub Fund, H.R.A., and reciprocity processing. The ideal candidate is highly organized, possesses strong analytical and member service skills, and is committed to providing exceptional service to plan participants while ensuring accuracy and compliance with all plan rules and regulatory requirements.

Essential Responsibilities

· Process benefit applications, benefit payments, partial payments, including updating withholdings and processing split payments

· Review, research, and resolve stale-dated checks, including processing voids and reissuing payments when appropriate.

· Prepare participant correspondences

· Process forfeitures and dividends in accordance with plan provisions

· Complete tax reconciliations and required tax filings

· Process weekly HRA payments and uploads

· Process Education Fund applications and payment requests, as assigned

· Manage outgoing reciprocity processing for multiple Local Union benefit funds

· Monitor and reconcile reciprocity transactions to ensure timely and accurate processing

· Prepare New Man Reports for assigned Locals

· Respond to participant inquiries by phone, email, and written correspondence regarding benefit eligibility, payment status, and plan provisions

· Maintain accurate participant records withing the benefits system

· Ensure compliance with Trust Documents, Summary Plan Descriptions, IRS regulations, DOL requirements and other applicable governing regulations

· Collaborate with internal departments to resolve participant issues and ensure timely benefit processing

· Assist with special projects, audits and other departmental responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills and time management skills

· Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting established deadlines

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Strong member service skills with the ability to communicate professionally with participants, employers, trustees and vendors

· Ability to analyze information, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues independently

· Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive participant information

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook

· Ability to learn specialized benefit administration software

Education and Experience

· High school diploma or equivalent required

· Two or more years in administration employee benefits

· Experience with working with multi-employer benefit plans, union benefits, pension, or Taft-Hartley plans is preferred but not required

Position Details

· Employment Type: Full-time

· Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:45am to 4:30pm, 45-minute meal period

· Work Location: St. Louis, MO 63110

Following a successful introductory period, employees may be eligible to participant in the hybrid work schedule, which currently includes one work from home day per week. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement. Successful candidates will be required to successfully complete a 90-day introductory period and, upon completion, become a member of the staff union as a condition of continued employment.
