A tier one supplier of fuel system parts to the automotive industry, has immediate opening for a Quality Specialist (8:00am-5:00pm).

Summary:

A Quality Specialist is a professional who monitors and evaluates the quality of products and processes used in manufacturing the products. Makes certain that products conform to the customer requirements, and works to ensure that quality is built into the product throughout the manufacturing process. Recommends improvements, and participates in kaizen events. Communicates any quality concerns to throughout the enterprise.

Essential Job Functions:

Develop, implement, and audit receiving inspection, quality assurance procedures, work instructions, and quality alert reports
Complete in-process standardized work audits of production and quality
Develop and implement training programs on quality standards and customer-required documentation for all team members
Work with vendors, suppliers, and customers on any quality items
Work on defect root cause analysis and report creation for supplier, internal, and customer issues
Defect and data collection, graphing, and management
Support the development of control plans, capability studies, SPC, gage R&R.
Control all internal and customer drawings, documents, and engineering standards
IMDS submission and management
Part approval management for suppliers and customers including preparation and submission on SQAM customer documents and internal documents
ECI and PCR creation, submission, and management of internal and external changes
Specify test equipment and design and support development of inspection or test jigs
Support QC inspectors and the quality team as needed
Support troubleshooting of any testing equipment
Support submission of product samples and manufacturing data to customers
Support ISO 14001 activities as required
Additional tasks as needed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge / Education:

Prefer a bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical-related discipline.
Prefer at least 3-5 years’ experience in Quality or Engineering in a manufacturing environment.
Prefer 2-3 years’ experience in automotive industry (Toyota desired)
Advanced computer skills-Microsoft Office applications.
Knowledge of quality assurance concepts such as SPC, measurement system analysis, FMEA.
Read and interpret drawings to ensure products meet required quality specifications.
GD&T knowledge and blueprint reading
Understanding of quality tools and calibration tracking

Skills:

Effective Organizational and Time Management skills
Communicate effectively written / verbal
Maintain a positive work environment
Self-starter with little to no direct supervision
Utilize gages, and other diagnostic / measurement devices to verify product integrity to drawing specifications
Analyze data, diagnose problem areas, and differentiate normal conditions from abnormal conditions

Abilities:

Ability to work with other departments to meet quality and production goals
Capable of multitasking and adjusting to changing priorities
Responsive to solve immediate concerns and keeps others informed on requests in a timely fashion
Ability to communicate effectively and work in a team environment.
Must be able to meet flexible work hours as needed to complete job assignments (example: come in early or work over in order to help cover other shifts due to absenteeism or work a split shift)
Ability to travel as required ie. training, work with suppliers, and customers or to support other plants
Ability to work alternative shifts, over time, or weekends as needed
Ability to lift, push, pull 30 pounds as needed

Work Conditions:

Standing, carrying loads up to 50 lbs.; Works in plant and / or Quality Lab; Short term noise while cutting up parts using Machinery, ie. Bandsaw; Must wear PPE as required to perform job functions; May work in both production work cells and/or Quality Lab environments; Work in a fast pace environment with changing priorities; May be called in to work on hours outside regular shift.
