Work Location Requirements
This position is open to qualified candidates nationwide. South Carolina residency is not required.
The selected consultant must work onsite in Columbia, South Carolina, during the first week of the assignment. After the initial week, the consultant should expect to work onsite approximately three days per month, based on a schedule established by the manager. The remainder of the assignment will be performed remotely.
The consultant must work Eastern Time business hours. All transportation, lodging, meals, and other expenses associated with required onsite attendance will be the consultant’s responsibility.
Position Overview
ND Global Consulting Services, Inc. is seeking an experienced Cloud Security Architect/Cloud Engineer to support the deployment, operation, and management of statewide shared-services cloud initiatives.
The consultant will help develop and implement cloud strategy, support public-sector organizations adopting shared cloud services, and assist with the transition to a managed cloud broker model. This position requires extensive hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, Terraform, cloud governance, platform operations, automation, and enterprise cloud migrations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support daily operation, administration, automation, and development activities for the Cloud Management Platform.
- Assist with migrations to AWS and Azure cloud environments.
- Work with technical teams and customer organizations to plan and execute cloud migrations.
- Maintain continuity and availability of shared services across AWS and Azure.
- Design secure, scalable, reliable, and cost-effective cloud architectures.
- Develop and maintain cloud infrastructure using Terraform and infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Implement AWS identity, organization, network architecture, governance, and cost-management controls.
- Implement Azure role-based access controls, Microsoft Entra ID/Azure AD, networking, governance, and cost-management controls.
- Support enterprise cloud architecture, security, governance, and operational standards.
- Develop automation supporting cloud provisioning, configuration, deployment, and platform management.
- Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to project teams and stakeholders.
- Conduct technical knowledge-transfer sessions and maintain supporting documentation.
- Support configuration management and continuous deployment processes.
- Help develop and advance the organization’s enterprise cloud strategy.
- Collaborate with managed cloud broker, operations, security, engineering, and customer teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field.
- At least 10 years of experience in infrastructure, systems engineering, DevOps, or technical architecture.
- At least eight years of technical architecture experience with relevant hands-on engineering responsibilities.
- Five to seven years of AWS experience, including IAM, AWS Organizations, network architectures, governance, and cost-management controls.
- Three to five years of Microsoft Azure experience, including RBAC, Azure AD/Entra ID, network architectures, governance, and cost-management controls.
- Three to seven years of enterprise cloud architecture or cloud-governance experience.
- Three to five years of experience with Terraform and infrastructure as code.
- Three to five years of experience with cloud migrations and platform operations.
- At least three years of technical leadership and knowledge-transfer experience.
- Strong public-cloud infrastructure expertise.
- Ability to work Eastern Time business hours.
- Ability to attend the first week onsite and return onsite approximately three days per month.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active AWS and/or Microsoft Azure certifications.
- Advanced Terraform and infrastructure-as-code experience.
- Experience designing scalable cloud technologies and solutions.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, or comparable container platforms.
- Experience with cloud security, penetration testing, and threat-detection tools.
- Experience with ServiceNow, Datadog, Dome9, Aviatrix, or similar platforms.
- Background in DevOps, software development, site reliability engineering, or systems engineering.
- Experience with configuration management and continuous deployment.
