Full Job Description

Columbus Hydraulics is looking for dependable, motivated individuals to join our team as CNC Machine Operators.

No CNC experience? No problem. We are willing to train the right candidate!

If you are mechanically inclined, comfortable working with your hands, dependable, and interested in learning a skilled trade in manufacturing, we encourage you to apply. Previous CNC or manufacturing experience is a plus, but it is not required.

Job Purpose

The CNC Machine Operator is responsible for operating CNC mills and lathes used to manufacture quality parts. Employees will learn how to safely operate equipment, perform setups, inspect finished products, and eventually develop skills in writing, editing, and saving CNC programs.

Duties & Responsibilities

Operate CNC mills and lathes safely and efficiently
Learn how to write, edit, save, and identify CNC programs for specific manufactured parts
Perform equipment setups, tooling changes, and collet/chuck changeovers
Assist with general machine maintenance
Read and understand drawings/CAD prints, operator manuals, job orders, and work instructions
Inspect, identify, deburr, and stack finished production materials
Learn to use measuring and inspection equipment including:
Tape measures
Calipers
Micrometers
Thread gauges
Go/No-Go gauges
Plug gauges
Depth gauges
Bore gauges
Follow all company safety procedures and manufacturing standards
Operate overhead cranes and forklifts when trained and authorized
Maintain a clean and organized work area
Perform additional duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

No previous CNC experience required — we are willing to train
Previous CNC, machining, manufacturing, mechanical, or machine operating experience is a plus
High school diploma/GED or equivalent is highly recommended
Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
Basic computer and keyboard skills
Ability and willingness to learn how to read blueprints and use precision measuring tools
Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
Dependable and able to maintain regular attendance
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality
Willingness to learn a skilled manufacturing trade

Available Shifts

1st Shift:
5:00 AM – 3:30 PM

2nd Shift:
4:00 PM – 2:30 AM

Schedule:

10-hour shifts
Full-time
