Full Job Description

POSITION TITLE: Chief Program Officer

RESPONSIBLE TO: Chief Executive Officer

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Chief Program Officer (CPO) is responsible to the CEO for providing senior-level leadership in the development, implementation and assessment of council program strategies for delivery of a nationally consistent leadership development experience for girls within the council jurisdiction. The CPO spearheads the development of a comprehensive, multifunctional plan for program enrichment and enhancement, which supports membership growth and volunteer engagement. She/he integrates all functions related to program delivery in support of the council’s business strategy; she/he determines and implements short-term business strategies, and develops and recommends long-term strategies in all areas of accountability. She/he serves as a key member of the council’s Leadership team, helping to establish priorities, launch new initiatives, align resources, adapt systems, and champion change. The Chief Program Officer provides strategic, operational, and budgetary leadership across all areas of accountability, including indoor and outdoor activities and the annual Girl Scout cookie program; all of which are critical drivers of girl leadership development, member engagement, and council revenue.

SKILLS:

· Proven knowledge and successful execution in the following areas is necessary: program development and implementation, program techniques related to the STEM, Outdoors, Entrepreneurial and Life Skill programs for girls.

· Ensures that council program delivery reflects current research and best practices on the development of girls, youth development, and experiential education

· Actively engage in the community building relationships and partnerships that support the Girl Scout Mission.

· Ability to effectively represent the council and its resource needs in a variety of communities; develop and manage staff and volunteers; display business ethics; administrative skills; management and supervisory skills; ability to relate well to diverse staff, membership, community stakeholders, and funders; effectively handle multiple priorities.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

· Provides leadership and support team by providing direction and guidance in the formulation, integration, implementation and assessment of long- and short-term programs; works collaboratively with Leadership Team to build a unified future vision and support a council-wide, data-driven strategy for Programs and Community Engagement

· Serves as a key member of the council’s Leadership Team, helping to establish priorities, launch new initiatives, align resources, adapt systems, and champion change

· Spearheads the development of a comprehensive, multifunctional plan for program enhancement; oversees efforts to implement consistent participation pathways for girls that foster diversity council-wide

· Ensures effective data management and reporting from all assigned operating groups. Utilizing data to forecast budget and create plans for effective resource management.

· Promotes Girl Scouting in the community to enhance the understanding and appreciation of the Girl Scout program; promotes Girl Scouts as a preeminent organization for girls, fosters interest in volunteer service opportunities, and increases the visibility and support for girl and adult members

· Ensures systems are in place to evaluate programs for relevance to girls in the council’s jurisdiction and the achievement of expected outcomes; builds public awareness of the impact of the Girl Scout experience through networking and collaboration with a broad range of external groups throughout the council’s jurisdiction

· Works in partnership with other key members of the Leadership and Management Team to create case statements and proposals for external funding opportunities (grants) to support the council’s program and membership goals

· Builds relationships with community groups that further the council’s public relations and fund development efforts

· Fosters and cultivates a pluralistic and supportive environment for girls, volunteers, and employees; adheres to the council’s affirmative action policies and guidelines

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

· Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 7 years of proven program development and management experience.

· Demonstrated experience in identifying and developing relationships with organizations in the community that support the mission of the Girl Scout organization.

· Demonstrated experience and success working in partnership with local community organizations.

· Comprehensive management skills and experience are required including but not limited to: short and long-term planning, evaluation, directing and motivating staff, oral and written communication skills, marketing and financial management, organizational behavior and development and governance.

· This position requires demonstrated experience in managing and implementing comprehensive programs for girls and adult volunteers. The individual is expected to be a highly competent enabler of volunteers and staff.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products.

JOB CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

SALARY:$90,000-$95,000

Pay: $90,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
