Seeking an experienced Front of House manager to perform the following Essential Functions:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assist department staff during peak activity periods. Speak with every guest to ensure the highest quality of service. Visually inspect food items to ensure timeliness of delivery and preparation, adherence to specifications, and correct presentation. Assist in organizing and conducting monthly meetings.
Supervise, and direct the staff in the department. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to provide clear direction to the staff. Assign and instruct the staff in details of work. Monitor progress and give consultation when needed. Conduct monthly training programs to improve service quality and up selling techniques. Maximize revenues to meet budget goals. Ensure all policies and procedures established by Olshan Hotel Management and Hilton Columbus are followed. Help develop, implement, and maintain basic operating standards for Food and Beverage Services in compliance with Federal, State, Local and Hilton Columbus guidelines. (e.g. Employee Alcohol Awareness Training and Compliance)
Resolve complications such as payment issues, faulty food orders, etc. Field guest and personnel complaints by conducting a thorough investigation of the situation in order to choose the most effective solution.
Compose weekly work schedules using approved labor and revenue forecast ensuring dollars spent do not exceed labor forecast. Calculate daily and weekly payroll figures using time sheets and labor tracking report. Ensure proper tip declarations are made by all team members.
Maintain top physical condition of all specified table tops, chairs, high chairs, etc. Create any necessary service orders for the repair of equipment through HotSos.
Conduct daily pre-shift meetings for the purpose of identifying special guests, groups in house, suggestive selling, etc. Encourage and promote an active team member empowerment atmosphere.
Communicate any potentially hazardous situations, emergencies or other threats to the security of the guests, employees or hotel assets. Apply knowledge of how to handle emergency situations in accordance to set standards and policies.
Check and maintain established par stock levels. Conduct monthly inventory of the stock. Participate in monthly Food & Beverage inventories.
Help develop and enforce the policies and procedures established by Olshan Hotel Management and Hilton Columbus.
Maintain good communications between fellow team members and other departments of the hotel.
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination
supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the
Food & Beverage Manager and the General Manger based upon the particular requirements of the Hotel.
OTHER:
Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by the hotel from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Team members with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, team members may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
Upon employment, all team members are required to fully comply with hotel rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of hotel facilities set forth by the Hilton Columbus at Easton, Olshan Properties and Hilton hotels. Team members who violate hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
Must be a minimum of 21 years of age to meet the age requirement as set forth by the State and Federal ABC laws.
Be T.I.P.S. certified within 90 days of hire.
Knowledge of how to spot fake ID’s.
Ability to demonstrate basic marketing skills and techniques.
Ability to demonstrate knowledge of food service principles.
Must have knowledge of various food preparations and proper service etiquette.
Knowledge of Agilisis Payable Systems
Possess the knowledge and ability to enforce all applicable liquor codes (e.g. Federal, State, City, and County Liquor Codes).
Possess knowledge of beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages.
Possess strong familiarization of proper food production and controls. This should include preparation, storage, and temperature controls.
Supervise, coordinate and motivate the activities of the department staff.
Ability to react quickly/decisively to changes in the Herb N' Kitchen, In-Room Dining, Easton Social, and Executive Lounge.
Considerable knowledge of mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) to
maintain comment card reports, budgets, and various other reports.
Ability to stand, sit and/or walk for extended periods of time.
Ability to concentrate in high volume high pressure area.
Ability to communicate telephonically and face-to-face in English.
Ability to analyze trends in comment card scores, safety reports, SALT scores, turnover and help set applicable policies.
Visual ability to read manufacturer’s instructions, correspondence, etc.
Ability to write and speak English, to comprehend and communicate instructions to both the hotel and its clients.
Ability to grasp, lift, and carry or otherwise move goods weighing a minimum of 25 lbs.
Ability to perform duties in a confined space.
Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, and kneeling.
Ability to remain calm in emergency situations and to effectively deal with the internal and external guests, some of whom require patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information, and solve guest concerns.
Knowledge of training techniques. Ability to develop and train subordinates and accomplish goals in a timely manner.
Ability to work under time constraints and deadlines, must be productive in quantity and quality of work.
Ability to delegate effectively.
Ability to translate technical information or problems into layman’s terms.
Ability to use finger/hand movements for extended periods of time. Finger and hand dexterity to manipulate switches, writing instruments, a computer keyboard, etc.
Knowledge of OSHA standards for chemical use and ability to train new team members in applicable usage of all chemicals in accordance to OSHA laws.
Knowledge of HotSos systems.
Protect employer’s privacy and data; keep passwords safe.
Knowledge and ability to enforce all applicable food sanitation codes (e.g. Federal, State, City, and County Codes).
Ability to work in conditions which may be occasionally hot, noisy, and wet.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
Education: High School Graduate or equivalent. Additional education or experience to meet the required job knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Experience: Restaurant or Food Service management related experience in a high volume environment. Previous Hilton Full Service Hotel experience.
Licenses or Certificates: Ability to obtain Ohio State Certified Professional Food Handlers Certificate
Ability to obtain CPR, First Aid, and TIPS certifications.
