Supply Chain Planner

Reports To: Director of Purchasing

Location: Columbus, OH

FLSA Status: Exempt

Gardner has been serving clients across the country for over 75 years as one of the largest family-owned and operated Outdoor Power Equipment and Commercial Parts Distributors in the nation. Gardner facilities are strategically located in Ohio, Florida, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Oregon. Totaling over 900,000 square feet, the warehouses contain over 165,000 active SKUs and are capable of processing over 6,000 orders per shift. Our lines include Rehlko (formerly Kohler) Engines, Stanley Black & Decker (formerly MTD), Hydro-Gear, Husqvarna, Troy-Bilt, Oregon Forestry and Outdoor Equipment Parts, Tuff Torq, Generac, SpeeCo and many more. Summary

The Supply Planner will be responsible for the tactical procurement of materials, supplies, or equipment. He/she coordinates efforts with Sales, Operations, and Management to maintain the appropriate level of inventory to meet sales demands at the most favorable price. The Supply Planner is proactive in their approach to coordinating the activities related to procuring goods, will assist the department in reviewing order recommendations, and will confer with vendors to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedule. The ideal candidate will also thrive in providing unparalleled customer service to both internal and external customers.

Job Duties

Purchase goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets for assigned product lines
Prepares, reviews and issues purchase orders
Proactively communicates with Sales staff, Operations, and Finance departments
Liaises with Operations to report defective or unacceptable goods/equipment
Coordinate pricing updates
Follow up with Sales to confirm timely purchase of goods to meet customer demands
Maintain appropriate inventory levels within warehouses for assigned product lines
Process annual return submissions and warehouse transfers for assigned product lines
Negotiate with vendors to obtain best possible terms
Act as interface between vendors and other departments as required
Provide analysis on inventory levels, costs, and cost reduction activities
Build, maintain, and manage supplier relationships while maintaining a professional and consistent approach
Compile data relating to supplier performance to enable evaluation
Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoice issues

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in business, supply chain, accounting, or a related field
Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with staff, stakeholders, and suppliers
Analytical with demonstrated problem solving abilities
Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks and achieve set targets
Demonstrated ability to add value and reduce costs
Advanced user of Microsoft Excel

Preferred Experience

Experience with Materials Requirements Planning in a distribution or aftermarket environment
Familiar with Microsoft D365 or similar ERP system (SAP, Infor, etc.)
