Full Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Tool Designer to join our team in Lewis Center, Ohio. The ideal candidate will have strong experience designing manufacturing automation systems, tooling, fixtures, material handling systems, robotic automation, and high-speed automation lines.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop manufacturing automation systems, assembly automation, machine integration, and process optimization solutions.
Design conveyor systems, material handling equipment, transfer mechanisms, jigs, fixtures, and tooling.
Develop pick-and-place systems using pneumatic, servo, and robotic technologies.
Design and integrate robotic automation for assembly, machine tending, packaging, inspection, and material handling.
Perform engineering calculations involving strength of materials, speed, horsepower, temperature, pressure, and force.
Create working drawings, detail drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
Analyze engineering drawings and specifications for dimensions, materials, machining requirements, finishes, and hardness.
Review designs for compliance with OSHA, CE, ISO, and customer-specific standards.
Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, equipment, and purchased components for mechanical assemblies.
Work closely with vendors, customers, engineers, programmers, machinists, toolmakers, fabricators, and electricians.
Support machine debug, integration, troubleshooting, and completion of automation systems.
Review machine operations and sequences with controls/programming teams.
Coordinate design activities with onsite/offshore teams of 10–12 members.
Communicate project progress, time estimates, resource requirements, and technical requirements to project leadership.
Maintain project documentation, drawings, schedules, requisitions, and drawing registers.
Assist in developing mechanical design and department standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
5–7 years of relevant mechanical design/automation experience
Experience in Industrial Automation or Manufacturing Automation preferred.
Strong ability to conceptualize and develop solutions for complex mechanical design requirements.
Experience coordinating and supervising design teams is preferred.

Pay: $45.00 - $48.00 per hour
