The Guest Experience Leader (GEL) is a key leadership role within Bagels & Co. This position serves as the shift leader responsible for executing daily operations, supporting the General Manager, and ensuring all brand standards are met. GELs are expected to lead from the front, work alongside their teams, and drive performance through execution, coaching, and accountability.
Front of House (FOH) – Guest Experience Leader
Position Overview:
The FOH GEL is responsible for overseeing all front-of-house operations during their shift, ensuring a high level of hospitality, speed of service, and guest satisfaction. This role is hands-on and requires the ability to work all FOH positions while leading the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead FOH operations during shifts, ensuring smooth and efficient service
- Work all FOH positions (cashier, expo, handoff) as needed
- Deliver and uphold exceptional guest experience and hospitality standards
- Coach team members in real-time on upselling, speed, and accuracy
- Monitor ticket times and adjust flow to maintain throughput
- Ensure bagel and cream cheese displays are full and presentable
- Assist in training and onboarding new team members
- Handle guest concerns professionally and resolve issues immediately
- Support labor management and scheduling execution
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in all FOH areas
Qualifications
- Previous leadership or management experience in a restaurant environment
- Strong understanding of FOH operations and guest service
- Ability to multitask and lead in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and coaching skills
Back of House (BOH) – Guest Experience Leader
Position Overview:
The BOH GEL is responsible for leading kitchen operations during their shift, ensuring food quality, consistency, and execution meet Bagels & Co standards. This role requires strong operational knowledge and the ability to work all BOH positions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead BOH operations during shifts, ensuring quality and efficiency
- Work all BOH positions (grill, prep, assembly, baking support)
- Ensure all food is prepared according to company standards and recipes
- Assist with baking and prep processes as needed
- Maintain kitchen organization, cleanliness, and food safety standards
- Monitor ticket flow and communicate with FOH to ensure smooth operations
- Train and coach kitchen team members
- Manage inventory levels and reduce waste
- Support execution of daily production and prep
Qualifications
- Previous kitchen leadership or management experience
- Strong understanding of BOH operations and food execution
- Ability to lead and perform under pressure
- Detail-oriented with a focus on consistency and quality
