Body Shop Technician Job Description -

Position Summary:

The Body Shop Technician is responsible for repairing and restoring damaged vehicles to pre-accident condition. This role involves performing structural and cosmetic repairs while ensuring high-quality workmanship, safety compliance, and customer satisfaction.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Repair vehicle body damage including dents, panels, frames, and structural components
Perform welding, sanding, grinding, and metal finishing work as needed
Replace damaged vehicle parts and components
Disassemble and reassemble vehicles for repair processes
Operate body shop equipment and tools safely and efficiently
Review repair orders and assess vehicle damage accurately
Maintain quality standards and ensure repairs meet manufacturer specifications
Work closely with estimators, painters, and other technicians to complete repairs on schedule
Keep work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations
Document repairs and communicate repair progress with management

Qualifications

Previous body shop or collision repair experience preferred
Knowledge of vehicle body repair techniques, tools, and equipment
Welding and frame repair experience preferred
Ability to read and interpret repair orders and technical manuals
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and lift for extended periods
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
Ability to work in a fast-paced shop environment
Manual dexterity to operate tools and repair equipment safely
