Technical Project Manager-IT & Business Systems
Mayco Colors is seeking an organized, technically capable, and customer-focused Technology Project & Automation Coordinator. This hybrid role combines project coordination, end-user technical support, Microsoft Power Platform and data-tool development, and technical writing and administrative support.
The successful candidate will work at the intersection of business operations and technology—helping employees resolve technical issues, coordinating technology initiatives, improving processes through automation and data tools, and creating clear documentation that supports consistent operations and user adoption.
Responsibilities
Project Management and Coordination
- Coordinate small and medium-sized technology and business-improvement projects from planning through implementation and closeout.
- Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, milestones, action-item logs, risk and issue registers, and status reports.
- Gather and document business requirements, workflows, priorities, and acceptance criteria.
- Facilitate project meetings, document decisions, assign action items, and follow up with stakeholders.
- Maintain the technology project roadmap and provide clear visibility into project status, dependencies, risks, and resource needs.
- Coordinate implementation, testing, training, deployment, and post-implementation support activities.
- Work with internal stakeholders, consultants, software providers, and managed service providers.
- Help establish repeatable project-management practices, templates, and governance standards.
- Support change-management and user-adoption activities for new systems and processes.
Data Solutions Management
- Develop and maintain practical business solutions using Power Automate, Power Query, Power BI, SharePoint, Microsoft Lists, Excel, and related Microsoft technologies.
- Use Power Query to combine, clean, transform, and validate data from multiple business sources.
- Build and support Power Automate workflows that reduce manual effort, improve notifications, and strengthen process consistency.
- Create and maintain operational reports, dashboards, data models, and reusable reporting processes.
- Evaluate manual business processes and identify appropriate opportunities for automation or simplification.
- Gather requirements from business users and translate them into documented, supportable solutions.
- Test solutions, document results, correct defects, and coordinate user acceptance testing.
- Monitor automated processes and reports for failures, data-quality issues, and changing business requirements.
- Apply appropriate security, access, naming, documentation, and change-control practices.
- Support and coach employees who use Microsoft data and automation tools.
This is a business-solutions role rather than a full-time software-development position. Solutions should be maintainable, appropriately governed, and aligned with Mayco’s operational needs.
Technical Support
- Provide responsive technical support to employees in office, production, and remote-work environments.
- Diagnose and resolve Windows, Microsoft 365, hardware, software, printer, network, and connectivity issues.
- Support Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Excel, and other business applications.
- Record, prioritize, track, and communicate the status of support requests.
- Configure and deploy computers, peripherals, user accounts, and approved software.
- Maintain accurate technology assets, licensing, warranty, and configuration records.
- Coordinate escalated support issues with vendors and managed service providers.
- Assist with cybersecurity controls, access reviews, patching, security-awareness activities, and incident documentation.
- Identify recurring support problems and recommend permanent or automated solutions.
Administrative Support
- Create and maintain standard operating procedures, work instructions, knowledge-base articles, system guides, troubleshooting procedures, and frequently asked questions.
- Develop project charters, requirements documents, process maps, test scripts, training materials, and implementation checklists.
- Convert technical information into clear instructions for nontechnical users.
- Maintain organized project files, decision logs, meeting notes, technology records, vendor information, and departmental documentation.
- Review existing documentation for accuracy, clarity, consistency, and usability.
- Create templates and standards for recurring IT and project documentation.
- Coordinate meetings, agendas, schedules, follow-ups, and departmental communications.
- Assist with preparing presentations, status summaries, training sessions, and management reports.
- Ensure important processes and solutions have an identified owner, support procedure, and current documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Three or more years of combined experience in technology support, project coordination, business systems, process improvement, data analysis, or a related role.
- Hands-on experience with at least two of the following: Power Automate, Power Query, Power BI, or advanced Excel.
- Experience supporting Windows computers and Microsoft 365 applications.
- Demonstrated ability to organize projects, maintain action items, and coordinate work across multiple stakeholders.
- Strong technical writing skills, including experience creating procedures, training materials, requirements, or support documentation.
- Ability to gather business requirements and translate them into practical technical or process solutions.
- Strong troubleshooting, customer-service, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining accurate records and following through on commitments.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with employees, vendors, consultants, and leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, business technology, project management, technical communication, or a related field—or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience supporting or improving processes in a manufacturing, distribution, or warehouse environment.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or another ERP system.
- Experience creating Power BI reports, Power Automate cloud flows, Power Query transformations, or SharePoint-based solutions.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Planner, Project, Visio, Forms, and Teams-based collaboration.
- Experience with process mapping, user acceptance testing, change management, or continuous-improvement methods.
- Familiarity with Power Platform governance, data security, permissions, and solution-support practices.
- Microsoft Power Platform, Microsoft 365, CompTIA, CAPM, PMP, or similar certification is beneficial but not required.
