Vice President, Finance Operations

Spark Finance – Columbus, Ohio (On‑Site)
$90,000–$130,000 Base + Quarterly Bonus ($15K–$30K)
Full‑Time Direct Report to Owner

About Spark Finance

Spark Finance is the captive consumer‑finance subsidiary of a successful, multi‑location auto dealer group operating across Ohio and Kentucky. We originate and service consumer auto installment contracts at 24.99% APR across multiple BHPH and hybrid retail locations. As we expand our portfolio and build toward a fully licensed, multi‑state consumer‑finance platform, we are hiring a senior operator to lead the next stage of growth.

This is a ground‑floor leadership opportunity with direct access to ownership, full operational authority, and significant performance upside.

Position Overview

Title: Vice President, Finance Operations
Reports To: Owner (no middle management)
Location: Columbus, Ohio — on‑site with travel to dealer locations
Direct Reports: BHPH Operations Manager, Collections Team
Base Salary: $90,000–$130,000 (experience‑based)
Quarterly Bonus: $15,000–$30,000 tied to portfolio performance

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio Performance

Own total portfolio health across all locations (delinquency, charge‑offs, recovery, efficiency)
Deliver monthly financial reporting to ownership
Manage loan‑loss reserve methodology and adequacy
Oversee ACH enrollment, GPS compliance, and starter‑interrupt protocols

Origination Quality

Enforce underwriting standards across all finance managers
Manage near‑prime credit tier programs
Ensure LTV compliance, deal structure integrity, and complete deal jackets

Origination Partnership

Conduct monthly deal‑quality reviews with each store’s finance manager
Provide real‑time consultation on edge‑case approvals
Lead first‑payment‑default analysis and accountability
Develop finance managers — you set the standard, not just audit it
Run quarterly underwriting calibration based on portfolio performance

Collections Leadership

Oversee centralized collections operations (Columbus, OH)
Manage collector performance metrics (call volume, contact rates, PTP compliance)
Direct GPS/starter‑interrupt activations
Manage repossession vendors and recovery strategy

Compliance & Licensing

Ensure compliance with:
Ohio Consumer Installment Loan Act (ORC 1321)
Kentucky Consumer Loan License (KRS 286.4)
CFPB, TILA, ECOA, FDCPA, FCRA
Oversee annual NMLS renewals (OH & KY)
Manage credit‑bureau reporting (all three bureaus via Datalinx)

Required Qualifications

5+ years in consumer auto finance, BHPH, or subprime lending operations
Experience managing a $10M+ consumer loan portfolio
Hands‑on collections leadership and process design
Working knowledge of Ohio and/or Kentucky lending regulations
Experience with DealerCenter, DealerSocket, or similar DMS
GPS/starter‑interrupt platform experience (Advantage GPS, PassTime, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

Previous operations leadership at Westlake Financial, CAC, DriveTime, JD Byrider, or similar
NMLS licensing or regulatory exam experience
Metro 2 credit‑bureau reporting and FCRA compliance
Experience building or scaling a collections operation from the ground up
