Licensed Barber/ Master Barber– Job Posting

Location: Columbus Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Installation
Employer: NFOJ, LLC dba The Joy of Grooming Barbershop (The JOG)

Position Summary

The Licensed Barber or Master Barber provides professional grooming services to service members, civilians, and visitors at the Columbus Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) installation. This role requires precision, professionalism, and strict adherence to Ohio Board of Cosmetology and Barber Board regulations as well as military grooming standards.

Key Responsibilities

Perform military regulation haircuts, standard haircuts, beard and mustache trims, and basic styling on all hair textures.
Provide hot towel shaves, shampoo and conditioning services, and blow-dry styling.
Deliver shaving and facial grooming services within the scope of barber licensure.
Maintain sanitation, disinfection, and safety standards in accordance with Ohio Board for Barbers and Cosmetology regulations.
Greet clients and conduct consultations to understand grooming needs while providing exceptional customer service.
Maintain tools, equipment, and workstations in proper working condition and follow infection control procedures.
Follow barbershop opening and closing procedures and report any incidents in accordance with contract requirements.
Uphold military grooming regulations and company policies at all times.
Participate in required continuing education and compliance training.

Qualifications

Current Ohio Barber or Master Barber License in good standing
(License transfer/endorsement from another state may be accepted. Employer may assist with transfer costs.)
Knowledge of and compliance with Ohio Board of Cosmetology and Barber Board rules and standards of practice.
Minimum 1–2 years of professional barbering experience preferred.
Ability to perform regulation-ready haircuts efficiently and accurately.
Ability to perform hot towel shaves.
Strong interpersonal skills and a professional, customer-first attitude.
Must be punctual, reliable, and dependable.
Must be able to pass base access requirements to work on a military installation.

Schedule

Monday – Friday: Flexible we are looking for 1-2 days per week
You can work at another barbershop or job in addition to this position
Saturday: Not required & Flexible
No Sundays or federal holidays
Part-time position

Compensation & Benefits

Sliding scale hourly pay
Guaranteed hourly pay — if you come to work, you are guaranteed to get paid
Keep 100% of your tips
Sliding scale on commission on retail sales
Direct deposit every 2 weeks
All supplies and equipment provided (bring your professional tools)
