Job Overview
Shift Day - 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM - Hours/Week 35
2 years or more recent experience in Accounting.
Location: High Street, 20th Floor Columbus.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Accounting Clerk/Accounts Clerk to join our finance team. In this vital role, you will support the organization’s financial operations by managing data entry, processing transactions, and ensuring accuracy in our accounting systems. Your proactive approach will help maintain the integrity of our financial records, facilitate smooth accounts payable and receivable processes, and uphold compliance with accounting standards such as GAAP and SOX. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your expertise in corporate and governmental accounting within a dynamic environment.

Duties

Enter and verify financial data accurately into various accounting software systems including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Workday, and PeopleSoft.
Process accounts payable and receivable transactions efficiently while ensuring timely payments and collections.
Reconcile general ledger accounts and perform balance sheet reconciliations to maintain precise financial records.
Prepare journal entries, perform account analysis, and assist with month-end closing activities.
Manage confidential information with integrity, adhering to strict data security protocols.
Support the preparation of financial reports by analyzing spreadsheets and conducting Excel data analysis for accuracy.
Assist with compliance requirements related to SOX controls and governmental accounting standards as needed.

Skills

Strong understanding of accounting principles including GAAP, double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and account reconciliation techniques.
Proficiency with financial software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Workday, ADP, Ceridian, Kronos, UltiPro, Paychex, and other accounting systems.
Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy (10 key typing).
Demonstrated experience in accounts payable/receivable management and bookkeeping functions.
Knowledge of technical accounting concepts including journal entries, account analysis, credit analysis, and general ledger accounting.
Ability to analyze spreadsheets using Excel for data analysis and reporting purposes.
Strong numeracy skills combined with a solid understanding of financial concepts such as balance sheet reconciliation and account analysis.
Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
Excellent customer service skills for internal stakeholders requiring support on financial inquiries or documentation requests.
