As an Infrastructure Automation Engineer, you will help transform and optimize our infrastructure landscape through automation, innovation, and scalable solutions. Partnering with the Infrastructure Engineering team, you will design and maintain the tools, code, and automation that support our distributed enterprise environment. Your work will improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability while directly impacting the platforms that power critical business applications across the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Designs and develops automation processes and tooling in languages like PowerShell, Python, and Bash to eliminate manual operational tasks and reduce operational risk;
- Designs, implements and maintains operational infrastructure within AWS.
- Contributes to internal web-based tooling using PHP and Laravel in support of infrastructure operations;
- Designs and implements secure CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application code;
- Builds and consumes REST APIs to integrate infrastructure components, platforms, and third-party services;
- Administers Windows Server and Linux operating systems in production environments;
- Manages and optimizes relational databases and middleware technologies supporting business-critical applications;
- Maintains and enhances observability platforms such as CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and EventBridge.
- Participates in incident management, performs full-stack troubleshooting, conducts root cause analyses, and implements preventive automation;
- Applies information security policies, principles, and practices to all automation and infrastructure work;
- Creates and maintains technical documentation for systems, processes, and automation;
- Adheres to company operational and personnel policies and procedures.
- Communicates with IT leadership and team members effectively, clearly and with regular cadence.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills:
Knowledge of, and skill in applying, most of the following:
- Infrastructure automation principles, methods, and practices;
- Software development lifecycle and version control concepts;
- Public cloud infrastructure management (AWS preferred);
- Performance monitoring, observability, and alerting principles and methods;
- Quality assurance and code review principles;
- Technical documentation methods and procedures;
- Systems security methods and procedures;
- Oral and written communication techniques sufficient to perform assignments related to infrastructure automation, deployment, and operations;
- Enterprise IT infrastructure principles, methods, and practices sufficient to contribute to the deployment of company infrastructure goals, objectives, plans, and policies.
Mastery of:
- Automation scripting in languages like Python, PowerShell, and Bash;
- Git-based source control and collaborative development workflows;
- CI/CD pipeline design and maintenance;
- Performance analysis, and root cause analysis;
- Creating and maintaining clear, concise technical documentation;
- Foundational networking concepts, including:
- Routing and switching schema;
- DNS, TLS, and certificate management;
- File transfer protocols (SFTP/FTPS); and
- Troubleshooting network connectivity supporting application and infrastructure requirements.
Ability to manage:
- AWS services including RDS, EC2, Lambda, Route 53 , Elastic Load Balancing, S3, Lambda, and other dependent services;
- Relational databases including MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Microsoft SQL Server;
- Microsoft Windows Server and Linux operating systems;
- Observability platforms such as CloudWatch, Grafana;
- Automated processes using Python, PowerShell, and other tooling;
- Web-based operational tooling written in PHP;
- REST API design, integration, and consumption.
Experience and Education:
5+ years’ experience in infrastructure engineering, systems administration, or DevOps disciplines with a demonstrated focus on automation and code-based infrastructure management; bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field; management will consider equivalent professional experience in lieu of a degree; experience in a regulated industry, such as financial services or fintech, is a plus; AWS Certified Solutions Architect or equivalent cloud infrastructure or automation platform certifications desired.
