Senior Project Manager - Psychiatry
Medicine | Psychiatry
This role drives the strategy, design, and day-to-day delivery of SOAR at Work, the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Health's statewide Workforce Mental Health & Resilience Program. The Senior Program Manager partners with companies across Ohio to build workplace cultures where employees can identify, address, and get help for at-risk mental health, substance use, and safety concerns — combining program design, vendor and stakeholder management, training delivery, and cross-functional leadership and strengthen employee wellbeing and resilience.
The role reports to the Vice Chair of Research in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health, works closely with statewide industry and state government partners, and includes regular travel and periods of embedding within contracted workplaces to help those organizations meet their workforce mental health goals.
Duties Description:
- Lead the strategic development, design, and continuous improvement of SOAR at Work program offerings, applying benefits and workplace wellness best practices and benchmarking to keep programming competitive and evidence-based.
- Evaluate program performance — what's working, what isn't, and where enhancements or process improvements are needed — and advise Department leadership on the state of the program.
- Track trends in workplace mental health, suicide prevention, and substance abuse prevention, and translate market and industry dynamics into recommendations for programming.
- Plan, direct, assign, and monitor the day-to-day activities and productivity of the program, including any affiliated research projects.
- Oversee training and support initiatives for suicide prevention, substance abuse prevention, workplace safety, sleep, and occupational health, equipping managers and employees to recognize and respond to at-risk behaviors.
- Serve as program administrator for training curricula or similar evidence-based programs.
- Plan and deliver leader education, consultations, and support resources to help managers champion mental health and resilience within their teams.
- Own planning and execution of employer-facing events (town halls, workshops, learning sessions), including agenda development, logistics, and impact measurement.
- Partner with statewide businesses and industry and state representatives to integrate wellness and prevention practices into standard business operations, including on-site/embedded work within contracted workplaces.
- Manage relationships with contracted vendors, clients and partners, ensuring operational excellence, timely issue resolution, and accuracy of all program communications and materials.
- Oversee program and utilization data, using outcomes analysis to demonstrate impact and drive program decisions.
- Ensure program activities comply with applicable local, state, and national regulations; oversee submission of required regulatory and reporting documentation and serve as liaison to the Principal Investigator and Institutional Review Board (IRB) for any affiliated research components.
- Support vendor/contract and budget management for program initiatives.
