Full Job Description

Equity Staffing Group is seeking two Electrical CAD Technicians for contract-to-hire opportunities supporting a leading engineering and utility client.

Akron, OH – 544 White Pond Drive, Akron, OH 44320
Columbus, OH – 530 W Spring St, Columbus, OH 43215

The Electrical CAD Technician will work as part of a technical team alongside Designers, Engineers, and Project Managers supporting utility infrastructure projects. This role contributes to planning and design efforts associated with system improvement initiatives, including capacity upgrades, pole replacements, recloser reconditioning, right-of-way projects, and public utility relocations.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare new engineering drawings and revise existing drawings from sketches, layouts, and design markups
Support planning and design efforts for utility infrastructure projects
Adhere to company, client, and industry drafting standards and procedures
Follow ANSI drafting standards and best practices
Assist with drafting, design, and project documentation activities
Utilize AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and related software to create and update drawings
Collaborate with Engineers, Designers, and Project Managers to support project execution
Maintain drawing accuracy and quality throughout project life cycles
Assist with special projects and additional assignments as needed
Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Associate degree in a CAD-related program OR Specialized CAD Certification with a minimum of 2 years of relevant drafting experience
2–5 years of professional drafting experience
Proficiency with AutoCAD
Experience using Bluebeam
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and grow within the field

Additional Requirements

Internship experience does not count toward the required years of professional drafting experience
Candidates with Bachelor's degrees in Engineering disciplines will not be considered for this role
Specialized CAD certification must be clearly listed on the resume if being used in place of an Associate degree

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting utility, electrical, transmission, distribution, or infrastructure projects
Familiarity with engineering drawing standards and utility design documentation
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented engineering environment
