Company: Impact Countertops

Compensation: $75,000 to $100,000 (base salary + annual bonus)
Reports To: Owner
Build the technical backbone of a high-end stone fabrication shop.
Impact Countertops is hiring a Fabrication Engineer to help lead the technical workflow behind complex, high-end stone fabrication projects in Columbus, OH.
This is a hands-on technical role for someone who understands manufacturing, drawings, tolerances, CAD, CNC, or fabrication, and wants to grow into a critical leadership seat over time. You will work directly with ownership to learn and eventually own the drawing-to-fabrication process, including templating support, drawing review, saw program QA, customer changes, slab layout review, and production-ready documentation.
Impact is known for taking on complicated work that other shops often avoid, including intricate waterfall details, precision seam placement, custom edge details, stack lamination, and premium stone projects for top builders and designers. If you like solving technical problems, improving systems, and working close to production, this could be a strong fit.
Why This Opportunity?
- Work on High-End Stone Projects: Support ultra-high-end residential and commercial stone projects with complex fabrication details.
- Own a Workflow That Matters: Grow into ownership of the drawing-to-fabrication process, not just one narrow task.
- Use Advanced Digital Fabrication Tools: Work with Park Industries CNC equipment, Laser Products templating, SlabSmith, AlphaCam, and Raptor.
- Learn Directly from Experienced Ownership: Work closely with an owner who brings more than 20 years of manufacturing and continuous improvement experience.
- Strong Growth Path: This role is designed for someone who can grow into deeper production leadership over time.
- Real Technical Variety: Touch templating, drawings, slab layout, saw programming QA, customer changes, feasibility review, and production documentation.
What You’ll Be Doing:
As a Fabrication Engineer, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing and QAing saw programs before release to production.
- Reviewing templater work, including cabinet drawings, photos, overhangs, seam locations, sink and faucet spacing, and backsplash details.
- Reviewing and improving slab layouts to support cutting efficiency, quality, and useful remnant creation.
- Managing customer drawing changes across multiple software platforms.
- Preparing drawing packets and DXF exports for fabrication.
- Supporting field templating when backup or overflow coverage is needed.
- Learning and using tools such as SlabSmith, Laser Products Raptor, AlphaCam, and related fabrication software.
- Supporting feasibility analysis for complex project quotes.
- Helping translate technical project details into clean, production-ready instructions.
- Working closely with ownership, templaters, production, and project stakeholders to keep jobs accurate and moving.
What You Bring:
- Manufacturing or Technical Background: Experience in machining, CNC, CAD, fabrication, industrial technology, manufacturing engineering technology, or similar hands-on technical work.
- Applied Technical Education: Degree or background in Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, or a related applied technical field is strongly preferred.
- Drawing Literacy: Ability to read and understand technical drawings, tolerances, layouts, and production details.
- Strong Attention to Detail: You understand that small mistakes in high-end fabrication can become expensive quickly.
- Self-Directed Learning: Ability to learn through videos, hands-on practice, repetition, and independent study.
- Technical Curiosity: Interest in digital fabrication tools, process improvement, and better ways to move work from drawing to production.
- Fast-Paced Project Comfort: Ability to manage multiple projects, revisions, details, and customer changes without losing accuracy.
- Growth Mindset: This is not an entry-level responsibility level. The right person should want a meaningful career move and a path into deeper production ownership.
Preferred Experience:
- Park Industries CNC experience.
- Laser Products templating experience.
- SlabSmith, AlphaCam, or Raptor experience.
- CNC, machining, CAD, CAM, or fabrication experience in another technical industry.
- Automotive, Tier 1 manufacturing, industrial equipment, or machining background.
- Experience managing customer drawing changes in a CAD or CAM environment.
- Stone countertop fabrication experience is a plus, but not required.
Training and Ramp-Up:
Impact will train the right person into its full technical process. The ramp is built around learning the workflow step by step.
Months 1 to 2:
- Learn field templating through hands-on training and independent study.
- Learn saw programming fundamentals through videos, practice, and real jobs.
Months 2 to 4:
- Begin QAing templater work in Raptor and SlabSmith.
- Start handling customer drawing changes and updates across internal systems.
Months 4 to 6:
- Own daily drawing reviews and customer change management.
- Learn feasibility analysis and nesting for project estimates.
Month 6 and Beyond:
- Handle routine drawing work and customer changes independently.
- Partner with ownership on complex custom jobs.
Schedule and Work Setup:
- Full-time role.
- In-person position based in Columbus, OH.
