1st Shift - Monday-Friday - 7:30am-4:30pm

Salary - $70k-85k - based on experience and skill

Job Overview

Lapham-Hickey Steel – Columbus Division is hiring an Inside Sales Representative to support estimating and inside sales for our steel fabrication services. In this role you will work directly with customers to review requirements, prepare quotes, coordinate orders, and ensure projects move through production accurately and on time. This is an office-based role with occasional shop floor interaction. Your enthusiasm, technical proficiency, and exceptional customer service skills will drive sales growth and enhance client satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

Review customer drawings, blueprints, and requests for quotation
Prepare quotes and estimates for value-added fabrication services including sawing, cutting, press brake forming, welding, and assemblies
Perform contract review of customer purchase orders for accurate order entry
Follow up on open quotes with customers to secure business opportunities
Expedite customer orders and communicate delivery timelines
Coordinate projects with production, purchasing, and shipping departments
Provide customer service support and respond to inquiries regarding orders, pricing, and capabilities
Maintain accurate records of quotes, orders, and customer communications
Identify opportunities for additional services and value-added processing
Assist with project management activities and APQP requirements as applicable
Wear required PPE when on the shop floor (safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, hearing protection)
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or management

Qualifications:

Required:

Ability to read and interpret blueprints — this is a hard requirement for this role
Basic math skills including fractions and decimal conversion
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook
Strong communication skills; ability to work effectively with customers, vendors, and internal departments
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple customer requests simultaneously

Preferred:

Previous inside sales, estimating, or customer service experience
Background in steel, aluminum, or manufacturing industry
Understanding of fabrication processes (sawing, laser/plasma cutting, press brake forming, welding, assemblies)
AS400 or ERP system experience

Work Environment / Working Conditions:

This position is primarily office-based with occasional visits to an active steel fabrication shop floor. Office working conditions include extended periods of sitting, computer use, and phone and email communication. When on the shop floor, employees may be exposed to loud noise, moving machinery, airborne metal particles, and other industrial hazards. Required PPE must be worn at all times on the shop floor (safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, hearing protection).

Physical requirements include prolonged sitting, regular use of hands for typing and computer work, reaching, and occasional standing and walking. Some lifting may be required.
