Full Job Description

A local residential property management company is looking for a dependable, organized, and personable Property Management Assistant to support the day-to-day management of a scattered-site rental portfolio throughout the Columbus area.

This is a hybrid position combining remote administrative work with occasional visits to properties. Most work can be completed remotely, but the right person must be local to Columbus and comfortable visiting properties as needed for inspections, notices, move-in coordination, and other operational needs.

Property management experience is not required. We're more interested in finding someone who communicates well, follows through, stays organized, has good judgment, and can handle a position where priorities sometimes change quickly. Previous experience in property management, real estate, leasing, hospitality, customer service, or administrative operations is a plus.

What You'll Do

You'll work directly with the Managing Director and assist with a variety of property management and operational responsibilities, including:

Communicating with residents, applicants, vendors, and other parties by phone, text, and email
Coordinating maintenance requests and following up with residents and vendors
Assisting with leasing inquiries, applications, showings, and move-in coordination
Scheduling and tracking property inspections, maintenance appointments, and other property-related work
Completing occasional property visits and basic property or unit inspections
Delivering notices and other documents to properties when needed
Helping document property conditions with photos, notes, and inspection reports
Following up on outstanding tasks and keeping records and property management systems updated
Assisting with resident account follow-up and routine administrative communication
Helping coordinate unit turnovers and preparing units for upcoming move-ins
Supporting general day-to-day operations across the portfolio

The position will involve a mix of recurring responsibilities and situations that come up throughout the day. Being comfortable figuring things out, communicating clearly, and following a task through to completion is important.

What We're Looking For

Strong written and verbal communication skills
Dependable and consistent follow-through
Organized and able to manage multiple open tasks
Comfortable communicating with different personalities and handling occasional difficult conversations professionally
Able to work independently without needing constant direction
Comfortable learning new software and online systems
Good judgment and attention to detail
Comfortable visiting residential properties throughout the Columbus area
Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license
Ability to take clear photos, document conditions, and provide timely updates after property visits

Property management or real estate experience is a plus, but not required. We're happy to train someone who has the right attitude, judgment, and ability to learn.

Position Details

This is a part-time, 1099 independent contractor position reporting directly to the Managing Director. The role is hybrid, with the majority of administrative work performed remotely and occasional in-person responsibilities throughout the Columbus area.

There is an opportunity for the position to grow over time based on performance, interest, and the needs of the company, including the potential for commission-based compensation as responsibilities expand.

About the Role

We're a small operation, so this isn't a position where you'll disappear into a large corporate structure or be limited to one narrow set of responsibilities. You'll work closely with the Managing Director, have exposure to many different parts of residential property management, and have the opportunity to take on more responsibility as you learn the business.

We're looking for someone who takes ownership of their work, notices when something still needs to be handled, and doesn't need every next step spelled out for them. At the same time, you'll have direct support and training as you learn the portfolio, systems, and how we operate.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
