Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Transportation Manager to lead our transportation operations and optimize our supply chain logistics. This role is vital in ensuring efficient freight movement, distribution, and warehouse operations while maintaining cost control and high service levels. The ideal candidate will bring a proactive approach to process improvement, team leadership, and supply chain management, driving continuous growth and operational excellence across all transportation functions. Duties

Oversee end-to-end transportation management, including freight planning, dispatching, fleet management, and shipping & receiving processes.
Develop and implement transportation strategies aligned with demand planning, production schedules, and inventory control to ensure timely delivery and optimal distribution operations.
Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers (3PL), NVOCC (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier), and other external partners to enhance service quality and cost efficiency.
Lead process improvement initiatives utilizing Lean principles, continuous improvement methodologies, and supply chain analytics to streamline workflows and reduce waste.
Monitor profit & loss statements, budgeting activities, and procurement processes to maintain financial health of transportation operations.
Supervise warehouse supervisors and distribution teams, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence in warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory management.
Utilize transportation management systems (TMS), ERP systems like AS400 or similar platforms, and Microsoft Office tools for data analysis, reporting, and decision-making.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, shipping & receiving standards, forklift operation protocols, and procurement policies across all distribution activities.

Qualifications

Proven experience in transportation management with a strong background in distribution operations, warehouse supervision, or logistics leadership.
Demonstrated ability to manage profit & loss statements, budgets, and supply chain analytics effectively.
Extensive knowledge of process management techniques such as Lean methodology and continuous improvement practices.
Familiarity with transportation planning tools, demand planning processes, ERP systems (e.g., AS400), WMS platforms, and transportation management systems (TMS).
Hands-on experience supervising warehouse operations including shipping & receiving, inventory control, forklift operation, dispatching, order fulfillment, and fleet management.
Strong managerial communication skills with the ability to lead teams effectively while fostering collaboration across departments.
Experience working with third-party logistics providers (3PL), NVOCCs, procurement processes, and materials management is highly desirable.
Ability to analyze supply chain data using logistics management tools to identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.
