Job Summary:
The successful candidate will support, develop, and execute procurement strategies developed within the corporate purchasing group. This person will work directly for the corporate purchasing manager as an analyst on special purchasing projects that will help develop the long-term strategies allowing Nifco to maximize cost reductions, find new suppliers, and support the North American production facilities.
We are seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Analyst to support procurement, supplier coordination, tariff documentation, freight activities, reporting, and administrative purchasing projects. This role works closely with internal teams, customers, brokers, carriers, and supplier partners to ensure documentation, data, and purchasing records are accurate, organized, and completed on time.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, comfortable working with data and documentation, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced purchasing and supply chain environment.
Essential Functions:
· Build and maintain strong relationships with internal departments and customers as well as external supplier partners.
· Interface with and report out to Corporate Purchasing Manager as requested.
· Create and implement best practice purchasing policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve business performance.
· Develop contracts, contractual relationships, and contract management to deliver continuous improvement in the delivery of goods and services by the supply base.
· Monitor supply chain risk and support and/or lead the risk mitigation activities.
· Can communicate and understand all levels of the supply chain to reduce risk.
· Manage, analyze, and draw conclusions from large amounts of spending data.
· Negotiate, manage, and implement favorable pricing structure on specific procurement areas from domestic and international vendors.
· Support make/buy studies and make clear and concise recommendations.
· Identify vendor opportunities and challenges. Partner with the Supplier Quality team to ensure appropriate resolution.
· Established a consistent methodology for managing supplier performance, driving continuous improvement and developing high - quality supplier relationships.
· Understand capacity of all facilities so outsourcing strategies can be followed.
· Provides support during all phases of product development including pre-sourcing, product validation, start of production (SOP), and life of program (LOP).
· Ability to develop a new supplier base specifically with regards to injection molders.
· Communicate and support cost estimation with current pricing so Nifco can be competitive when quoting.
· Review logistical routes and work to find ways to improve shipping costs specifically between the US and Mexico.
Functions Specific to Tariff Recovery:
· Support procurement activities, supplier relationships, pricing, and assigned purchasing projects.
· Maintain and validate supplier, broker, tariff, import, freight, customer, ERP, part, component, and finished good documentation.
· Prepare and track customer documentation, portal uploads, reporting deadlines, monthly updates, tariff reports, and recovery documentation.
· Analyze procurement, supplier, spend, freight, and tariff data to identify trends, support decisions, and assist with supply chain mapping, make/buy studies, and risk mitigation.
· Coordinate freight pickups, deliveries, expedited shipments, lane quotes, carrier issues, invoice approvals, and location spend reporting.
· Serve as a contact for tariff questions, customer reimbursement inquiries, supplier follow-up, freight coordination, EDI onboarding, and purchasing project updates.
· Build strong internal and external relationships while supporting special projects, event planning, travel scheduling, and administrative purchasing duties.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, or related discipline or 5 years relative experience.
- Ability to work in the USA without sponsorship, now or in the future.
Skills/Experience/Requirements:
- Greater than 5 years of strong commodity and sourcing optimization background.
- Strong communication skills are necessary. (Verbal and written skills)
- Strong confident negotiator. Proven contract management and supplier management experience.
- Inquisitive, detail-oriented with strong quantitative analytical skills and an innovative approach to problem solving
- Ability to analyze capacity to support the outsourcing strategy.
- Ability to accurately review and validate large volumes of data and documentation.
- Working knowledge of inventory planning, forecasting techniques as well as operational systems and warehouse management.
- Knowledge and technical understanding of automotive processes and components is preferred. Previous experience in the automotive industry is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of injection molding.
- Experience in adding or create new supplier base. The experience of adding new injection molders to the supplier portfolio is a positive.
- Strong Microsoft Office background. Any experience with business intelligence software such as Power Bi is a positive.
