Municipal Sales Representative – Ohio

Location: Ohio (statewide field-based territory) | Job Type: Full-Time

Founded in 1931 and family-owned since 1958, CITCO Water has spent more than 90 years building trusted, face-to-face relationships with the municipalities and utilities we serve. What started as a pipe, valve, and fittings supplier in Huntington, West Virginia has grown into a full-spectrum water and wastewater solutions provider, now operating ten branches across nine states, including Ohio. We listen to our customers, we know the problems that keep municipal decision-makers up at night, and we build long-term partnerships around solving them.

The Opportunity

CITCO Water is looking for a Municipal Sales Representative to own and grow our presence with Ohio municipalities and water/wastewater utilities. This is not a territory-building, cold-start role — we need someone who already has an active book of business and standing relationships with Ohio municipal decision-makers (public works directors, utility superintendents, water/wastewater plant managers, purchasing agents, and city/county officials).

The right person can walk in the door with credibility already established, introduce CITCO Water's full solutions portfolio to accounts they already serve, and begin closing business almost immediately by leveraging those existing relationships. This role is built for someone who wants to bring their network to a company with the product breadth, inventory, and technical support to back it up.

What You'll Sell

You'll represent CITCO Water's complete offering to municipal and utility accounts across Ohio:

Chemical Solutions – water treatment, wastewater treatment, odor and corrosion control, industrial solutions, and our Clean Chemical Program for budget-friendly system upgrades

Smart Metering & Technology – Diehl and Sensus metering systems and Smart City IoT integration

Hardware & Inventory – pipes, valves, fittings, and our Clean Inventory Program for on-site parts tracking and management

Service & Support – equipment repair, engineering support, and training programs

What You'll Do

Leverage existing relationships with Ohio municipalities and utilities to introduce and sell CITCO Water's full product and service portfolio

Convert warm accounts into signed business quickly, without a lengthy relationship-building runway

Manage the full sales cycle — from needs assessment and proposal through close and account handoff to service/support teams

Serve as the primary point of contact for your accounts, coordinating with CITCO Water's chemical, metering, hardware, and service teams to deliver comprehensive solutions

Stay current on municipal budget cycles, bid/procurement processes, and capital planning to identify and time new opportunities

Represent CITCO Water at relevant municipal, utility, and industry association events across Ohio

Maintain accurate pipeline and account records and report on sales activity and results

What We're Looking For

An existing, active book of business with Ohio municipalities and/or water/wastewater utilities is required. Candidates must be able to demonstrate current relationships with municipal accounts they are actively serving.

Proven track record selling into municipal government, public works, or water/wastewater utility markets

Demonstrated ability to close new accounts quickly by leveraging existing customer trust and relationships — this role is built around near-immediate results, not a slow-build territory

Working knowledge of municipal procurement, budgeting, and bid processes

Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-management skills

Self-directed and comfortable managing a statewide field territory

Willingness and ability to travel throughout Ohio as needed

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications

Experience selling water/wastewater treatment chemicals, metering/technology solutions, or related infrastructure products or services

Existing familiarity with CITCO Water's product categories or competing/complementary product lines

Established relationships with Ohio-based engineering firms or consultants who influence municipal purchasing decisions
