About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, dependable UST Field Service Technician to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of fueling and related industrial equipment. This role is designed for a versatile technician who can work independently, troubleshoot in the field, take ownership of job quality and safety, and play a key role in expanding our installation capabilities.
Note: This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for an experienced professional who knows how to think through problems, communicate clearly on job sites, take pride in their craftsmanship, and help develop the next generation of petroleum equipment technicians.
What You’ll Do
Installation & Construction
- Install underground storage tanks (steel and fiberglass), fuel piping systems, sumps, spill buckets, and overfill prevention equipment.
- Perform excavation, backfilling, and site restoration activities.
- Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, site plans, and installation drawings.
Service, Troubleshooting & Maintenance
- Perform electrical installation, wiring, troubleshooting, and commissioning of fuel system components.
- Work extensively with automatic tank gauges (ATGs), dispensers, submersible turbine pumps (STPs), leak detection equipment, and control systems.
- Conduct pressure testing, leak testing, electrical verification, and system startup procedures.
- Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and system-level repairs in the field.
Leadership, Administration & Safety
- Serve as a go-to technician on jobs, training and mentoring less-experienced technicians on proper techniques, safety practices, and quality workmanship.
- Communicate directly and professionally with customers, project managers, inspectors, and subcontractors regarding job status and issues.
- Ensure all work complies with OSHA, EPA, environmental, and industry safety standards.
- Complete service documentation, installation records, job reports, and time tracking accurately and on time.
- Maintain accurate inventory of materials, tools, and equipment, and assist with warehouse organization.
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment to company standards.
- Support customer site surveys and provide field feedback to assist sales and project planning efforts.
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
- 3–7+ years of experience in field service, industrial/mechanical work, electrical, or petroleum equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and working electrical knowledge, including troubleshooting controls, panels, and sensors.
- Ability to troubleshoot independently and make sound decisions in the field.
- Ability to lift 75+ pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Experience working safely in regulated or safety-sensitive environments.
- Basic computer and technical skills (email, software, phone apps, Microsoft Word).
- Professional communication skills and a strong work ethic.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Willingness to travel locally and regionally (overnight as needed).
Strongly Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience installing underground storage tanks, petroleum equipment, or commercial fueling systems.
- Specific experience with ATGs, STPs, dispensers, leak detection systems, and fuel system controls.
- Previous experience mentoring or informally leading other technicians.
- Mechanical, construction, excavation, or plumbing experience.
- OSHA 30, HAZWOPER, PEI, or relevant electrical/safety certifications.
