Accountabilities / Responsibilities:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Schedule surgical procedures for assigned providers.

Conduct pre-operative appointments with patients, ensuring all required documentation and consent forms are completed accurately.

Educate patients regarding surgery dates, locations, preparation requirements, and procedural logistics.

Create and process surgery orders and related surgical documentation.

Submit completed booking sheets, screenings, and required paperwork to hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs).

Coordinate surgical scheduling and related activities with hospitals, ASCs, physicians, and clinical staff.

Verify procedures have received appropriate authorization and approval from the Pre-Certification Department.

Schedule and coordinate post-operative appointments, physical therapy services, and outpatient testing as directed.

Maintain current knowledge of insurance requirements, authorization processes, and payer guidelines.

Collaborate with vendors to coordinate surgical equipment, implants, and hardware needs.

Maintain and update facility-specific consent forms, pre-operative guidelines, and order sets.

Respond to and manage patient inquiries promptly and professionally.

Utilize multiple software systems to coordinate surgeries, provider schedules, and patient appointments.

Covers for other schedulers as needed.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.

Previous surgery scheduling or medical scheduling experience required.

Orthopedic experience preferred.
-
Experience with AthenaHealth EMR is a plus.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and other healthcare scheduling systems preferred.
