Full Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Operating within the scope of company Vision, Mission and Values, supports journeyworkers and senior toolmakers by setting up machinery, preparing raw materials, and performing routine equipment maintenance.

Essential Functions

Assist toolroom personnel in the setup and operation of conventional shop equipment such as surface grinders, lathes and mills
Clean, oil, and lubricate dies; assist in repairing worn machine components and help change out tooling as needed.
Help in the fabrication, assembly, and modification of tools, dies, and fixtures per specifications.
Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment.
Assist in measuring completed workpieces using precision instruments to verify required tolerances.
Perform inspection and testing of tools and dies to ensure quality and design standards.
Follow blueprints, sketches and CAD designs to assist in the creation of tooling components.
Document work processes, maintain records of tooling, and assist in inventory management.
Keep toolroom clean, organized and free of hazards.

Skills & Competencies

Technical Skills: Basic hands-on experience in manual machining and fabrication processes; eagerness to learn CAD Software, CNC operations and programming.
Attention to Detail: Strong focus on precision and quality.
Math Skills: Capability to interpret basic blueprints, technical drawings, and perform accurate mathematical calculations.
Problem Solving: Ability to assist in identifying and resolving tooling-related issues.
Safety Awareness: Commitment to safety practices in a manufacturing environment.
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective teamwork.

Organizational Relationships

Reports directly to the Fabrication Manager; works closely with Tool and Die and production personnel to accomplish various work assignments as determined by customer needs.

Physical Demands

While completing job assignments, must be physically capable of standing for long periods of time, up to the entire shift. Must be physically capable of handling equipment weighing 20 to 30 pounds. Must be physically able to lift and manually manipulate heavy parts in the execution of duties. Must be physically capable of lifting to 50 lbs. regularly.

Expected Travel

Less than 10% travel

Required Education & Experience

High school diploma or GED and one (1) year tool and die or machinist experience.

Preferred Education & Experience

High school diploma with additional vocational training and three years tool and die/machinist experience preferably in a metal stamping environment.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
