Full Job Description

Seeking Energy Marshalls for a projects in Jeffersonville, OH

The Energy Marshal is responsible for overseeing and enforcing all electrical safety, energization, and hazardous energy control procedures on mission critical construction projects, including data centers, critical infrastructure, and high-availability facilities. This role serves as the authority for energy isolation, LOTO compliance, energized work coordination, and electrical risk mitigation throughout all phases of construction, commissioning, startup, and turnover.
The Energy Marshal works closely with project management, commissioning teams, trade partners, safety personnel, and clients to ensure all work involving electrical systems is planned, executed, and documented in accordance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, NEC, and site-specific mission critical standards.

Key Responsibilities
Electrical Safety Oversight

Enforce all project electrical safety requirements and energy control procedures.
Lead implementation and compliance of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) programs.
Monitor and coordinate all energization activities across the project.
Review and approve energized work planning and switching procedures.
Verify proper boundaries, barricades, PPE, and hazard controls are in place prior to work.
Conduct field audits of electrical installations, temporary power, and energized systems.
Stop unsafe work involving electrical hazards or energy isolation concerns.

Energization & Commissioning Support

Coordinate energization schedules with construction, commissioning, and owner teams.
Maintain energization logs, one-line diagrams, and system status documentation.
Track temporary and permanent power system transitions.
Participate in switching operations and critical system turnovers.
Assist in development of Method of Procedure (MOP), Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), and Emergency Operating Procedure (EOP) documentation.
Ensure proper turnover and handoff of energized systems to commissioning and operations teams.

Risk Management & Compliance

Ensure compliance with:
OSHA 29 CFR 1910 & 1926
NFPA 70E
National Electrical Code (NEC)
Site-specific client safety standards
Mission critical commissioning requirements
Support arc flash hazard mitigation and electrical incident prevention.
Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis related to electrical events.
Conduct pre-task planning and hazard analysis for high-risk electrical activities.
Maintain awareness of critical uptime requirements and operational impacts.

Training & Communication

Lead electrical safety orientations and toolbox talks.
Educate field personnel on LOTO, energized work procedures, and arc flash awareness.
Coordinate with subcontractors to ensure consistent energy control practices.
Serve as the primary point of contact for electrical safety coordination on site.

Required Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of experience in mission critical construction, electrical safety, commissioning, or related industrial environments.
Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems up to medium voltage.
Working knowledge of:
Switchgear
UPS systems
PDCs
Bus duct systems
Generators
Transformers
MV/LV distribution
Experience with LOTO procedures and energized electrical work planning.
Knowledge of commissioning and startup processes for critical facilities.
Ability to interpret one-line diagrams and electrical construction documents.
Strong communication and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent field experience.
OSHA 30 Certification.
NFPA 70E Training Certification.
NETA, CET, or commissioning-related certifications preferred.
Experience on hyperscale data center or mission critical projects preferred.
CPR/First Aid certification preferred.

This is a travel position.

Pay is $35-45 BOE and $100 a day per diem.
