For more than 50 years, HelpLine has provided compassionate support to individuals and families throughout our communities through 24/7 crisis intervention, resource navigation, prevention education, advocacy services, and volunteer programs. Every day, our team helps people navigate some of life’s most difficult moments.

We’re looking for a compassionate, organized, and community-focused Sexual Assault Response Network (SARN) Advocate & Outreach Coordinator to provide trauma-informed advocacy to survivors while building community partnerships and expanding access to SARN services across our five-county service region.

What You’ll Do

As our SARN Advocate & Outreach Coordinator, you’ll play an important role in supporting survivors and increasing access to sexual assault advocacy services by:

+ Providing short- and long-term advocacy to survivors of sexual violence by phone and in person, including crisis intervention and emotional support.

+ Supporting survivors as they navigate criminal justice, housing, economic, and other community systems and resources.

+ Participating in daytime on-call advocacy response and sharing limited evening and weekend administrative support responsibilities with the SARN team.

+ Building collaborative relationships with service providers, community organizations, businesses, and other regional partners.

+ Participating in Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) meetings and other community initiatives focused on comprehensive survivor support.

+ Developing and leading survivor-focused workshops and facilitating peer-led survivor support groups.

+ Supporting the recruitment, training, and supervision of volunteer advocates.

+ Developing and implementing outreach strategies that increase awareness of sexual assault and SARN services.

+ Attending and hosting community outreach events throughout the five-county service region.

+ Ensuring advocacy and outreach services are delivered through a trauma-informed, victim-centered, and inclusive approach.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is compassionate, dependable, and comfortable balancing direct survivor advocacy with community outreach and relationship building.

Required Qualifications:

+ Highschool diploma or equivalent.

+ At least two years of work, internship, or volunteer experience in mental health, human services, advocacy, or a related field.

+ Must be at least 21 years of age to participate in on-call advocacy response.

+ Strong organizational and technology skills.

+ Excellent interpersonal communication, community networking, and public speaking skills.

+ Cultural humility and the ability to work sensitively and respectfully with survivors and individuals from diverse communities and backgrounds.

+ Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team and community partners.

+ Flexibility to participate in occasional evening and weekend responsibilities.

+ Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and an acceptable driving record.

+ Ability to successfully complete required BCI and FBI background checks.

Additional Experience We’d Like to See:

+ Associate degree in mental health, human services, or a related field with at least one year of relevant work, internship, or volunteer experience.

+ Bachelor’s degree in social work, mental health, human services, or a related field with relevant work, internship, or volunteer experience.

+ Registered Advocate (RA) or other relevant advocacy credentials.

+ Experience providing direct services to survivors of sexual violence, including sexual assault, stalking, or relationship violence.

+ Experience providing inclusive and culturally responsive survivor services.

+ Completion of the 40-hour training required for Ohio rape crisis center advocates.
