ND Defense is looking for a Materials Supervisor on Temporary Assignment from Sept 1, 2026 - Dec 31, 2026 to work on second shift from 630 PM- 5AM.
The Materials Supervisor is responsible for directly overseeing the daily activities of warehouse associates, team leads, and material handlers within an assigned functional area or shift. This role ensures that receiving, storage, kitting, picking, packing, and shipping operations are executed safely, accurately, and on schedule. The Warehouse Supervisor enforces company policies and safety standards, coaches and develops team members, and serves as the front-line link between the warehouse floor and the Warehouse Operations Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES — DAILY OPERATIONS

Supervise, coordinate, and prioritize daily warehouse activities including receiving, put-away, inventory transactions, kitting, order fulfillment, and shipping.

Assign work duties and manage task distribution across team leads and warehouse associates based on production schedules and operational priorities.

Monitor workflow throughout the shift to ensure productivity targets, accuracy standards, and delivery timelines are met.

Ensure materials are properly received, inspected, labeled, stored, and issuedin accordance withstandard operating procedures and quality requirements.

Coordinate with production, planning, and procurement teams to ensure material availability aligns with build schedules and customer commitments.

Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues on the floor, escalating to the Warehouse Operations Manager when necessary.

Conduct shift-start meetings to communicate daily priorities, safety topics, policy updates, and performance expectations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES — PEOPLE MANAGEMENT

Directly supervise warehouse associates and team leads; provide day-to-day coaching, feedback, and performance guidance.

Train new hires and cross-train existing staff on warehouse procedures, equipment operation, ERP transactions, and safety protocols.

Monitor attendance, timekeeping, and adherence to company policies; address performance or conduct issues in coordination with HR.

Support the Warehouse Operations Manager in conducting performance reviews, developing team members, andidentifyingcandidates for advancement.

Promote a positive and collaborative team environment focused on accountability, respect, and continuous improvement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES — SAFETY & COMPLIANCE

Enforce all safety policies, OSHA regulations, and PPE requirements on the warehouse floor.

Conduct regular safety walks, housekeeping inspections, and equipment checks; document and correct hazardsimmediately.

Lead orparticipatein incident investigations and near-miss reporting; implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Ensure compliance with ITAR/EAR export control requirements within warehouse operations, including access control and material handling.

Maintain a clean, organized, and 5S-compliant warehouse environmentat all times.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES — INVENTORY & QUALITY

Support cycle count programs and physical inventory activities; investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.

Ensure that all warehouse transactions are accurately recorded in the ERP/WMS system in real time.

Coordinate with quality to properly segregate, label, and disposition non-conforming material.

Monitor and report on key metrics including receiving turnaround, picking accuracy, on-time shipment, and safety incidents.
QUALIFICATIONS
-
High school diploma or GEDrequired; Associate orBachelor'sdegree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field preferred.

3–5 years of experience in warehouse or distribution operations in a manufacturing environment, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or lead role.

Working knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP software (e.g., Infor, SAP, Oracle), and inventory control procedures.

Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop front-line warehouse teams.

Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
-
Ability tooperatematerial handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.); forklift certification required or ability to obtain within 90 days.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).

Ability tolift upto 50lbsand perform physical tasks in a warehouse environment for extended periods.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in a defense, aerospace, or ITAR-controlled manufacturing environment.

Familiarity with Lean, 5S, Kaizen, or other continuous improvement methodologies.

Forklift train-the-trainer certification.
-
Experience supervising across multiple shifts.

Knowledge of OSHA warehouse safety regulations and best practices.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

Warehouse and manufacturing floor environment with regular exposure to moving equipment, noise, and varying temperatures.

Requires standing, walking, lifting, and bending for extended periods throughout the shift.

Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) asrequired.

May require flexible hours, shift coverage, overtime, or weekend work based on operational needs.
