Full Job Description

Quality Assurance Supervisor

SynergyLabs is an industry leading manufacturer of animal care products produced in our state-of-the-art facility in Hildebran, North Carolina. We distribute our best selling brands across pet specialty, mass, food and drug, farm and feed, and digital channels with a global footprint that includes 62 countries and counting. Our merchandise lines include grooming aids, stain & odor products, flea & tick controls, and nutritional supplements. The Quality Assurance Supervisor leads the daily operations of the Quality Department, ensuring compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, food safety standards, and quality management systems. This role provides direct supervision to quality personnel, coordinates departmental priorities and coverage, and supports continuous improvement initiatives across the function. As the primary escalation point for day-to-day quality issues, the Quality Assurance Supervisor reviews incoming information, evaluates risk, and makes timely, well-supported decisions to protect product quality, food safety, and regulatory compliance. Success in this role requires sound judgment, clear accountability, strong process discipline, and the ability to balance decision speed with accuracy in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities

Lead the day-to-day operations of the Quality Department, ensuring work is prioritized effectively and executed in compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, food safety standards, and quality management systems.
Directly supervise quality assurance, quality control, laboratory, and document control personnel, providing clear direction, accountability, and support for consistent execution.
Coordinate daily departmental activities and coverage to support production needs while maintaining quality and compliance standards across all areas.
Serve as the primary escalation point for day-to-day quality issues by reviewing incoming information, assessing risk, determining appropriate next steps, and escalating significant quality, regulatory, or food safety concerns when needed.
Review and approve quality records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with internal procedures and regulatory expectations.
Ensure timely review, investigation, and disposition of non-conforming materials and products in accordance with established quality processes.
Drive timely completion of deviations, investigations, CAPAs, customer complaints, DMRs, change controls, and internal audits, maintaining strong follow-through and documentation discipline.
Analyze quality trends, process issues, and performance metrics to support departmental KPIs, identify risks, and inform sound operational decisions.
Prepare accurate weekly and monthly reports to support compliance monitoring, quality initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
Support compliance with applicable regulatory and certification requirements, including SQF, HACCP, PCQI, GMP, and FDA regulations.
Assist in planning, preparing for, and facilitating plant, food safety, GMP, and quality audits, including visits from customers, third parties, the FDA, and state or local regulators.
Reinforce adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices and quality expectations across daily operations.
Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental priorities and business needs.

Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, Quality/Regulatory, or a related field.
4–5 years of experience in Quality, preferably in the cosmetic, food, or related regulated manufacturing industry.
Strong knowledge of FDA regulations, Good Laboratory Practices, Good Manufacturing Practices, and applicable food safety or quality standards.
Demonstrated ability to review information, assess risk, and make timely, well-supported decisions in a regulated environment.
Strong technical writing skills, with the ability to produce clear, accurate, and compliant documentation.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and follow-through.
Ability to analyze quality trends, metrics, and process issues to support sound judgment and continuous improvement.
Clear, professional communication skills, with the ability to escalate issues appropriately and work effectively across departments.
Proficiency in managing documentation, investigations, CAPAs, audits, and related quality system processes.
