James Francis Electric, Inc. is a growing commercial electrical contractor serving San Antonio and the surrounding South Texas region.
We specialize in commercial construction, healthcare facilities, restaurants, schools, retail developments, industrial facilities, tenant finish-outs, municipal projects, and design-build electrical construction.
We are seeking motivated individuals who are interested in building a long-term career in the electrical trade and becoming future Journeymen, Leadmen, Foremen, Superintendents, and Project Managers.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Commercial Electrical Apprentice position is designed for individuals who are eager to learn the electrical trade while working alongside experienced electricians and field leaders.
Apprentices will assist in the installation of commercial electrical systems while developing the skills, knowledge, and work habits necessary to become successful electricians.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
✓ Current Texas Apprentice Electrician License (or ability to obtain immediately upon hire)
✓ Current Valid Driver License
✓ 3+ Years of Commercial/ Industrial Electrical Experience
✓ Reliable Transportation to the Jobsites
✓ Ability to Work Outdoors
✓ Ability to Travel When Required
✓ Ability to Lift and Perform Physical Work
✓ Strong Work Ethic and Positive Attitude
Applicants must be able to maintain their TDLR Apprentice Electrician License throughout employment.
No electrical experience is required for entry-level applicants, although construction experience is beneficial.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist electricians with electrical installations.
- Learn proper installation techniques.
- Assist with conduit installation.
- Assist with wire pulling operations.
- Assist with equipment installation.
- Assist with material handling.
- Learn to read plans and specifications.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas.
- Gather tools and materials.
- Assist with project layout.
- Assist with electrical testing and startup activities.
- Perform tasks assigned by Foremen, Leadmen, Journeymen, and Project Leadership.
- Follow all company safety policies.
- Attend training and educational programs.
- Continuously improve electrical knowledge and skills.

Apprentices are expected to gradually build their tool inventory as they advance through the trade.
At a minimum, employees should possess basic electrical hand tools including:

- Utility Knife
- Wire Strippers
- Tool Pouch
- Level
- Adjustable Wrench
- Basic Hand Tools
Additional tools will be expected as experience and responsibilities increase.
