MANUAL MACHINIST

BP Aero

Irving, Texas, USA

Position Type: Permanent Full Time Hourly Direct

Shift: 1st and 2nd

Job Description & Key Responsibilities

Machine Operation: Set up and operate manual equipment such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders.
Technical Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics to understand project specifications.
Tool Selection: Determine appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for each job.
Quality Control: Measure and inspect finished parts to ensure they meet strict quality standards and specifications.
Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and upkeep on machinery and equipment to ensure proper function.
Collaboration: Work with engineers and other team members to resolve production issues and improve manufacturing processes.
Safety: Ensure adherence to all safety standards and company procedures while working with machinery.

Duties

Reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings.
Setting up and operating machine tools to cut, shape, and finish materials to exact specifications.
Using precision measuring instruments, such as calipers and micrometers, to ensure parts meet tight tolerances.
Monitoring the production process and making real-time adjustments to machine settings.
Performing routine maintenance on equipment to ensure it remains in good working order.
Inspecting finished parts for quality assurance and documenting or discarding any defects.
Adhering to strict safety protocols and workplace standards.

Minimum QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience

High school diploma or GED is the minimum education.
Completion of a vocational program, technical school certificate, or apprenticeship is highly valued.
Strong mechanical aptitude and mathematical skills.
Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and coordination.
Ability to read and understand technical blueprints.
Physical stamina for repetitive tasks and standing for long periods.
