The Corning Museum of Glass (CMoG) was established in 1951 by Corning Glass Works (now Corning Incorporated) as a gift to the nation commemorating the company’s 100th anniversary. CMoG is an independent not-for-profit museum dedicated to exploring a single material: glass. Welcoming more than 300,000 annual visitors from around the world, the Museum's campus is home to the world’s most comprehensive collection of glass, the world’s foremost library on glass, and one of the premier glassworking schools in the world. CMoG was named by the New York Times among the U.S. museums to see for 2025, and Newsweek readers voted CMoG one of the Top 3 Best Art Museums in America.
Glass is a versatile, ancient material that is still being explored and understood by artists, scientists, and historians today. The story of glass is a story about art, history, culture, technology, science, craft, and design. 50,000+ objects representing more than 3,500 years of history are included in the Museum’s collection—ranging from a portrait of an ancient Egyptian pharaoh to a 200-inch telescope lens to contemporary sculpture. The Museum regularly publishes journals, educational videos and scholarly publications—many of which can be accessed online from anywhere in the world.

Pay Range: $18.25–$20.00 per hour

The Corning Museum of Glass is seeking a MYOG (Make Your Own Glass) Workshop Associate to join The Studio team in Corning, New York. This is an onsite position where you'll work directly with guests in our world-renowned glassmaking studios. In this hands-on role, you'll guide guests through engaging glassmaking experiences, helping them create one-of-a-kind keepsakes while ensuring a safe, welcoming, and memorable environment. Whether you're assisting a first-time visitor in making a blown glass ornament or supporting behind-the-scenes operations that keep our workshops running smoothly, you'll play an important role in bringing creativity to life every day.

Guide guests one-on-one through furnace glassblowing and/or flameworking projects.

Help guests create a variety of glass objects, including ornaments, flowers, pumpkins, vessels, paperweights, beads, and pendants.

Support longer, immersive experiences by coaching guests through every stage of creating a blown glass vessel.

Lead or assist with sandblasting, engraving, fused glass, and other specialty projects as trained.

Teach and facilitate glassmaking activities across Studio programs as needed.

Host Studio social and public events.

Process finished glass pieces from creation through annealing, packaging, labeling, and shipment or guest pickup.

Prepare materials, maintain equipment, and help ensure workshops are clean, organized, and operating efficiently.

Open and close the MYOG Workshop as needed.

Monitor inventory and assist with workshop supply management.

Maintain exceptional safety standards while working around hot glass and specialized equipment.

Help foster an engaging, educational, and inclusive environment for guests, artists, instructors, and fellow team members.

Support programs that expand access and grow the diversity of The Studio community.

Assist with implementing new programs, systems, and operational improvements.

Contribute to Museum initiatives and perform additional duties as assigned.

Associate's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

Experience with glassblowing and/or flameworking, including safely operating related equipment.

Ability to work directly with beginner guests while maintaining a safe and enjoyable experience.

Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams, and SharePoint.

Experience with sandblasting, glass fusing, engraving, or related equipment.

Experience shipping artwork or learning shipping software.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
