For over 60 years, Hogan Homes has been building quality homes across South Texas. As one of the Coastal Bend's leading homebuilders, we take pride in delivering exceptional craftsmanship, innovative designs, and an outstanding customer experience. We're looking for a detail-oriented, organized, and motivated Purchasing & Estimating Coordinator to help support our construction operations.

What You'll Do

As a Purchasing & Estimating Coordinator, you'll play a key role in the pre-construction, construction, and post-construction phases of our homes. This role is essential in ensuring our homes are built efficiently, accurately, and within budget by preparing estimates, sourcing materials, maintaining vendor relationships, and supporting our sales, design, accounting, and construction team.

Estimating Responsibilities

Prepare accurate construction cost estimates for our plan portfolio and custom projects.
Perform material quantity takeoffs from construction plans and specifications.
Develop detailed budgets for new floor plans.
Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids.
Review drawings, specifications, and architectural changes to determine project costs.
Identify value engineering opportunities while maintaining Hogan Homes' quality standards.
Assist with pricing homeowner upgrades, change orders, and special requests.
Support project budgeting and ongoing cost analysis throughout construction.
Participate in estimate reviews and project handoff meetings with the construction team.

Purchasing Responsibilities

Source and purchase construction materials, finishes, fixtures, appliances, and building supplies.
Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Obtain competitive pricing and negotiate favorable terms while maintaining quality standards.
Track purchase orders and ensure materials arrive on schedule to meet construction timelines.
Coordinate with Construction Team to resolve material shortages or delivery issues.
Maintain accurate purchasing records, vendor pricing, and cost databases.
Monitor vendor performance, pricing trends, and product availability.

Collaboration & Operations

Work closely with Sales, Design, Construction, Accounting, Management, and Ownership to support company goals.
Maintain accurate cost data for budgeting and forecasting.
Research new products and materials to improve quality and reduce costs.
Help standardize purchasing procedures and improve operational efficiency.
Assist with additional purchasing and estimating projects as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Management, Economics, Engineering or a related field.
Equivalent construction experience will also be considered.
2–5 years of experience in commercial or residential construction.
Proficient in reading construction plans and specifications.
Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and building systems.
Experience obtaining vendor quotes and negotiating pricing.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Ability to hold firm, professional conversations with vendors and trades
Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word

Preferred Qualifications

Residential homebuilding experience.
Knowledge of purchasing and estimating software.
Experience with production homebuilding budgets.
Understanding of value engineering and cost-saving strategies.
Familiarity with vendor management and contract negotiations.
Familiarity with the South Texas trade base

Physical & Work Requirements

· Valid Driver’s License

· Reliable Transportation

· Ability to walk active job sites, including uneven ground, stairs, and unfinished spaces, and work in typical South Texas weather conditions, including heat, humidity, wind, and sun exposure.

· Must be able to pass a background check
