Job Title: Part-Time Evening Receptionist / Light Housekeeper

Reports To: Executive Director

Summary

The Part-Time Evening Receptionist / Light Housekeeper serves as the primary point of contact for Corry Higher Education Council during evening hours. This position provides friendly and professional front-office support to students, instructors, tenants, visitors, and community members while assisting with evening classes, building operations, security, and closing procedures.

During periods when reception and student needs are limited, the employee will perform light housekeeping duties to help maintain a clean, safe, welcoming, and professional environment throughout the facility. The ideal candidate is dependable, personable, organized, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently during evening hours.

Responsibilities and Duties

Reception and Customer Service

Greet and assist students, instructors, visitors, tenants, and members of the public.
Answer the multi-line telephone system, respond to general questions, and take accurate messages.
Assist walk-in visitors seeking information about classes, programs, job-search resources, and other services.
Assist with student registrations, payments, and general inquiries.
Communicate with students by phone and email as needed.
Operate office equipment and technology, including computers, copiers, fax machines, credit card equipment, and related software.
Maintain open, courteous, and professional communication with daytime staff and all building users.
Provide clerical and administrative assistance to the Executive Director and other staff as needed.

Classes and Evening Building Operations

Direct students and program participants to appropriate classrooms and assist instructors as needed.
Help set up and troubleshoot basic classroom technology and equipment.
Maintain awareness of the evening class and building schedule.
Serve as the primary on-site contact for evening building needs and security.
Monitor building activities, utilities, and climate controls and address routine issues as appropriate.
Respond professionally to reasonable requests or concerns from building users.
Report building damage, maintenance concerns, safety issues, disturbances, or equipment problems to appropriate staff.
Follow established building closing and security procedures at the end of the evening.

Light Housekeeping

Perform routine light cleaning during the evening as front-office and class responsibilities allow.
Sweep, spot mop, dust, wipe down, and tidy common areas, classrooms, offices, and other assigned spaces.
Empty office, classroom, restroom, and common-area trash as assigned.
Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces as needed.
Straighten classrooms and common areas and prepare spaces for upcoming classes or activities.
Monitor restrooms and common areas and address routine cleanliness needs.
Restock basic supplies and notify appropriate staff when cleaning or building supplies are running low.
Inspect assigned areas for cleanliness and report maintenance, damage, or safety concerns.
Follow established cleaning schedules and health and safety practices.

Other Duties

Assist with additional reasonable duties as assigned to support the daily operation, cleanliness, safety, and security of the facility.

Self-motivated and able to work independently with limited supervision.
Able to prioritize responsibilities and transition between reception, student support, building, and housekeeping duties throughout the evening.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Comfortable working with the public and providing assistance to individuals with a variety of needs.
Able to work effectively as part of a team and take direction from staff.
Comfortable using Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook and Word, and able to learn registration and other software applications.
Comfortable operating basic office and classroom technology.
Willing and able to work independently during evening hours and secure and close the building at night.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED required.
Previous customer service, receptionist, office, or related experience preferred.
Previous cleaning or housekeeping experience preferred.
An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This position combines office/reception responsibilities with light housekeeping and building duties. The employee will alternate between sitting, standing, and walking throughout the facility and will regularly use computers, office equipment, cleaning supplies, and basic housekeeping equipment.

The employee must be able to bend, reach, stoop, and perform routine cleaning activities and occasionally lift or move supplies, trash, classroom materials, or equipment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.

Pay: From $12.00 per hour
