The Opportunity
This role oversees the procedures for material deliveries, mail services, and ordering of supplies. It also provides support for a variety of responsibilities managed by the Facilities team and serves as back-up to the Building Coordinator, which includes entering work orders into central ticketing systems, and assigning keys.
About the Law School
Founded in 1887, Cornell Law School is a top-tier law school. We offer a 3-year JD program for about 200 students per class, a one-year LLM program for about 90 students from countries throughout the world, and a doctoral (JSD) program for about 2-3 new students per year. Cornell Law School has 41 tenured and tenure-track faculty, including 20 with chaired faculty positions; and 15 clinical professors in the legal research and writing program and in clinics at the local, national, and international level. Our faculty is consistently ranked among the top in the country for scholarly productivity and influence, and has pre-eminence in many areas, including quantitative and qualitative empirical legal studies, international and comparative law, and robust doctrinal scholarship in core fields.
Key Responsibilities

Coordinate room/space arrangements for various Law School events.

Set-up faculty and staff offices.

Move/rearrange furniture.

Secure the Law School facility and exterior perimeter, and reporting any maintenance or security issues.

Organize and maintain inventories of space, office supplies, kitchen supplies, and furniture.

Assist with preventative maintenance and service requests.

HS Diploma and 2-4 years of experience with facility maintenance and material handling or equivalent combination.

Excellent customer service skills and the ability to effectively interpret facility occupant needs.

Provide appropriate and timely action to resolve issues.

Flexible, adaptable, and comfortable with multi-tasking and changing priorities, situations, and demands.

Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Capable of reading and understanding blueprints.

Adept in the use of hand tools.

Basic computer skills and familiarity with safety compliance policies.

Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Prior U.S. mail sorting experience.

Previous experience in facilities or custodial services.

Experience with Cornell procurement and facilities systems.
This position is for a three-year term. Reappointment will be based on performance and funding availability. The schedule for the incumbent in this position is Tuesday-Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. The schedule may vary based on facilities and event coverage needed.
Occasional emergency response is required. The incumbent in this position is defined as an “Essential Employee” under Cornell Policy 8.2 and may be required to report to work to perform duties when the University and/or local roads are closed.
Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. No relocation assistance is available.
