Benton Habitat for Humanity works to bring people together to make decent homes achievable for everyone in our community.
Our ReStore plays an important role in that mission. The ReStore accepts and sells donated furniture, appliances, building materials, tools, and home improvement items. Revenue generated by the ReStore helps support Benton Habitat's affordable housing programs while providing affordable materials to the community, encouraging reuse, and keeping usable materials out of the landfill.
We are looking for an experienced, motivated, and hands-on ReStore Manager to lead the daily operations of our Corvallis ReStore.
Position Summary
The ReStore Manager is responsible for the overall day-to-day operation, performance, safety, staffing, and customer experience of the Benton Habitat ReStore.
This position directly supervises ReStore employees and oversees volunteers while ensuring the store operates safely, efficiently, professionally, and in alignment with Benton Habitat for Humanity's mission and organizational goals.
This is a hands-on management position. The successful candidate will be comfortable leading employees and volunteers while also working alongside the team on the sales floor, processing donations, merchandising, loading and unloading merchandise, helping customers and donors, participating in donation pickups, and handling the many different responsibilities that come with operating a busy ReStore.
What You'll DoLead the ReStore Team
- Manage and oversee daily ReStore operations.
- Directly supervise ReStore employees.
- Prepare employee schedules and ensure appropriate staffing.
- Establish and communicate daily and weekly priorities.
- Train, coach, support, and provide feedback to employees.
- Participate in employee onboarding and training.
- Monitor employee performance, attendance, customer service, and compliance with ReStore policies and procedures.
- Address performance or conduct concerns in accordance with Benton Habitat policies and in coordination with the CEO.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and a positive workplace culture.
- Lead by example and work alongside employees and volunteers as needed.
Manage Store Operations
- Ensure the ReStore opens and closes properly and on time.
- Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and welcoming sales floor and warehouse.
- Oversee donation intake, processing, pricing, merchandising, recycling, and inventory movement.
- Ensure donated merchandise is processed efficiently and moved to the sales floor in a timely manner.
- Monitor merchandise that is not selling and implement appropriate pricing, markdown, or merchandising strategies.
- Maintain attractive, organized, and accessible merchandise displays.
- Ensure aisles, exits, loading areas, workspaces, and customer areas remain safe and clear.
- Identify opportunities to improve store organization, efficiency, and sales.
Deliver Excellent Customer & Donor Service
- Establish and model high standards for customer and donor service.
- Build positive relationships with customers, donors, contractors, suppliers, and community partners.
- Handle customer complaints, disputes, and service-recovery situations professionally.
- Ensure donation acceptance guidelines are applied consistently.
- Professionally communicate with donors when items cannot be accepted.
- Help create a welcoming environment that reflects Benton Habitat's mission.
Manage Donations & Pickups
- Oversee donation intake and ensure accepted items meet current ReStore guidelines.
- Coordinate the ReStore's donation pickup schedule.
- Schedule employees for donation pickups and driving responsibilities.
- Participate in donation pickups when needed.
- Ensure donations are safely loaded, secured, transported, unloaded, and processed.
- Ensure only qualified and authorized employees operate Benton Habitat vehicles.
- Monitor vehicle condition and ensure required inspections and maintenance needs are addressed.
- Identify opportunities to increase quality donations and improve pickup efficiency.
Manage Employees & Volunteers
- Ensure employees understand their roles, responsibilities, and expectations.
- Provide ongoing training and cross-training.
- Oversee the ReStore volunteer experience.
- Ensure volunteers receive appropriate orientation, training, safety information, and meaningful work.
- Work with staff to identify productive volunteer opportunities.
- Address significant volunteer concerns or conflicts.
- Help create an environment where volunteers feel welcomed, respected, and appreciated.
Drive Sales & Financial Performance
- Work toward meeting or exceeding approved ReStore budget and sales goals.
- Monitor sales performance and identify trends, opportunities, and concerns.
- Review sales, transactions, discounts, markdowns, inventory movement, staffing, and other factors affecting store performance.
- Look for opportunities to increase sales and improve inventory turnover.
- Complete required cash register reconciliation, deposits, and financial documentation according to established procedures.
- Ensure cash-handling and point-of-sale procedures are followed.
- Monitor operating expenses and identify opportunities to control costs.
- Communicate significant financial or operational concerns to the CEO.
Maintain a Safe Workplace
- Maintain a strong culture of safety throughout the ReStore.
- Ensure employees and volunteers follow established safety procedures.
- Provide or coordinate appropriate safety training.
- Monitor lifting, loading, material handling, forklift use, and other warehouse activities.
- Address unsafe conditions or behaviors promptly.
- Ensure employees only operate equipment for which they have received appropriate training and authorization.
- Report and document accidents, injuries, vehicle incidents, and other safety concerns according to Benton Habitat procedures.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.

Successful candidates should have:
- Previous retail, warehouse, resale, customer service, operations, or similar experience.
- Previous supervisory or management experience strongly preferred.
- Strong leadership and employee-management skills.
- Excellent customer-service and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to coach, train, motivate, and hold employees accountable.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to make sound decisions while following established organizational policies and procedures.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic understanding of sales, expenses, budgets, and operational performance.
- Basic computer skills, including email, spreadsheets, point-of-sale systems, and data entry.
- Ability and willingness to work with employees and volunteers from a variety of backgrounds and experience levels.
- Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification.
- Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR certification.
- Ability to successfully complete required background screening.
Driving Requirements
The ReStore Manager may participate in donation pickups and operate Benton Habitat vehicles.
The successful candidate must:
- Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Maintain a driving record acceptable under Benton Habitat's insurance requirements.
- Be able to safely operate the type and size of organizational vehicle assigned.
- Follow all traffic laws and organizational vehicle policies.
Physical Requirements
This is a hands-on management position in an active retail and warehouse environment.
The ReStore Manager must be able to regularly stand and walk for extended periods and frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, and pull.
The position requires the ability to safely lift and move up to 50 pounds independently and assist with heavier or bulky items using team lifting or appropriate equipment.
The Manager may regularly assist with furniture, appliances, building materials, tools, donations, customer purchases, loading, unloading, and other merchandise.

Tuesday–Saturday, 9:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.
Hours may vary based on staffing, donation pickups, meetings, events, operational needs, or other ReStore activities. Some flexibility in scheduling is required.
