The purpose of this classification is to perform specialized customer service and administrative duties and process complex legal documents in support of an assigned court or court functions. Incumbents in this classification provide lead, guidance and direction to other Deputy Clerks.

Leads and coordinates daily work activities of assigned co-workers: organizes tasks in order to complete assigned work; monitors the status of work in progress and inspects completed work; confers with co-workers, assists with complex/problem situations, and provides technical expertise; assists with training and instructing co-workers regarding operational procedures and proper use of equipment; assists with supervision of co-workers by reporting employee problems and providing input on disciplinary action and employee performance evaluations
Manages Board of Equalization Appeal processes; Performs customer service functions by telephone, by mail, and in-person: provides information and assistance regarding Board of Equalization services, procedures, documentation or other issues; reviews and accepts legal documents in accordance with court procedures and prescribed time frames; distributes forms and documentation; responds to routine and complex questions or complaints; researches problems/complaints; and initiates problem resolution.
Serve as backup to managerial personnel and their respective divisions; Processes various court related documentation in accordance with court procedures and time frames: prepares, receives, responds to, and processes subpoenas, court orders, hearings, continuances, bench and probation warrants, case initiation documents, case dispositions, case transfers, probation revocations, citations, deeds, liens, and other legal documents; receives and date stamps legal documents; distributes and submits information and legal documents to appropriate parties; reviews, verifies, records and files documentation and records, and creates spreadsheets and reports of activities.
Collects, records, and processes fees: processes court payments, taxes, recording fees, and other items according to division/department assignment and per established procedures; enters and processes payments; assigns fees to proper case; assigns taxes to specific property; and balances monies received and processed as required.
Actively support the Clerk in the preparation of documentation, record retention compliance, report analysis, and contract review.
Coordinate and maintain travel and training registration and expenses for Board of Equalization Members
Specific License or Certification Required: Depending on the area of assignment, may be required to obtain and maintain Georgia Crime Information Center certification, GCIC Tem1inal Agency Coordinator, and/or Notary Public certification.

Equipment, Machinery, Tools. and Materials Utilization: Requires the ability to operate, maneuver, and/or control the actions of equipment, machinery, tools, and/or materials used in performing essential functions.
Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of reference, descriptive, and/or advisory data and information, such as ticket logs, case files, disposition requests, legal documents, calendars, receipts, etc
Mathematical Aptitude Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. May include counting, recording of counts, and basic measuring,
Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness, and creativity in situations involving the evaluation of information against measurable or verifiable criteria.
Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors: Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.

Work is typically performed in an office environment.

Associate degree in Administrative Services or related field

Minimum of three (3) years experience processing complex legal documents and supporting court functions in a court of assignment

OR have a combination of education, training, and experience and is equivalent to #1 and #2 above and provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.

Valid State of Georgia Driver's License.
